This question is on another plane/plain, but what about fire-brick....I see in some of my marbles the little white specs of substance, but what about say a catseye that has a vane bubbled up like firebrick? I would love to insert a pick here, but I have already packed the marbles in question...
Do you know what I am talking about?.... If not I will have to get back to you about this in July or August when we get moved and unpacked and I can insert a photo.

I have a set of what look like same run cat's eyes which look like they might have brick in the vanes. And I have cats with bubbles in the vanes, sometimes manifest as very thin spots.
Took me some time for this to dawn on me -- but why couldn't the glass which goes to make the vanes have brick bits or air pockets in it? The base glass can. Why not the vane glass?
