Hi, there! Let me preface this post by explaining that I know nothing about marbles! I was intrigued by this one, though, that I purchased at an auction. I'm interested to find out anything and everything I can about it. I've done some research, via the web, and believe it's considered an "onionskin" and, from the metalic within the copper color, believe it to be a Lutz. There are two copper swirls, with a fine white outline on each. In between the copper are two thinner dusty lavendar swirls. There is sort of a flat spot, on the "bottom" of the marble, so it will sit still. (Don't knwo if that's good or bad!)

So, that's about all I know! I hope that someone, within your group, can tell me more. I'm facinated and, I'm sure my hubby hopes, that marbles won't become my newest fixation!!! (He doesn't have to know...they're not that large...don't take up too much space!)

Thank you for your help!

Looks like a Lutz (pinkish or lavender) transparent swirl from what I can see from the photos. Not an onionskin though. Flat part you are referring to is probably the pontil.

Thank you, so much, for your help! The stuff that I was thinking was "onionskin" is sort of a clear glitter that, I think, was completely covering the marble, at one point. The copper/gold color, internal to the marble is glittery, but this stuff on the outside is, too. I was affraid to attempt to polish it, partly because I don't know how, and because I was afraid that doing so would remove whatever that outer layer is. So...next question...how do I polish a marble?
