I have another board shaped like this but lacks the green bottom

i suspect 40 or 50's, marbles are probably not original but they look very nice. no date

Nice find, the marbles in the top pic are original to the set, approx 1". I believe made in 1960 give or take a few years. The board can come with a blue, green or red base and a random color mix of the marbles, orange was also in the basic colors.

In the UK the marbles were called 'spiders' by kids in the 1970's but 'wire pull' seems to be the term adopted nowadays. Although the set is marked "made in England" the marbles are German, ironically as the Gibson premises were destroyed during the blitz in 1940 and had to rebuild from scratch after the war.
