That was fun.

The only ukulele player I'm familiar with is Iz -- Israel Kamakawiwo╩╗ole.

I like this kind of music! Do you know the song shoot him down by alice francis? I would drop a link but thanks to a institution called GEMA, we germans are not allowed to watch this video on youtube -.-

I hadn't heard of it. But I'm listening to it now.

ooh, the lyrics are a little dark for me. I'm a Pollyanna kinda girl most days.

p.s., now I hear "shoot you down" somewhere in the lyrics of Gimme That Swing, but mostly I can't make the lyrics out except for the chorus. I just like the tune.

The Alice Francis was great.

Really enjoyed the 'underground video' style along with the music.

And the Pink Martini was wonderful.

My knowledge of French only got me as far as the title.

But it was enough to love the rest of it.

For some reason this reminds me of a cartoon I once saw in a

'New Yorker' magazine. It showed a movie screen in a theater,

with a couple in a passionate embrace. The caption to the

cartoon, giving the audio, was in French, but I loosely translated

it to something like

"Your skin is like alabaster,

Your lips are the petals of the rose,

Your hair is as the autumn wheat,

And your eyes are like opals speckled with gold."

The English sub-title on the screen was "I think you're rather pretty!"

Hahaha! Roughly translated ( a german translates a french text into english... How could this go wrong? :-)) :

I've lost my head

In the street saint honore

I searched here and there

I couldnt find it

Tell me wheres my head?

I've lost my arms

At the place de l'opera

I searched here and there

I couldnt find it

Tell me where are my arms?

Since i have lost you

Im in pieces on the avenue

And i couldnt stick the pieces together back again

By myself

Repair me my dearest

Because im not whole

I need you only you

Moreover i love you!

I lost my nose

Outside Le Bon March├ę

I've searched here and there

I haven't found it

Tell me, where is my nose?

Come back to me my darling

My nose isnt important

Its you what makes me complete

Since i have lost you

Im in pieces on the avenue

And i couldnt stick the pieces together back again

By myself

Repair me my dearest

Because im not whole

I need you only you

Moreover i love you!

I lost my feet

In saint germain de pres

I've searched here and there

I haven't found it

Tell me, where are my feet?

Come back to me my darling

My nose isnt important

Its you what makes me complete

Looks like the technique works and it didn't go wrong at all!

Thanks for filling in the details.

Interesting that in English it ended with a perfect poetic rhyme. (feet/complete)

how do you make those embedded players?

Switch off the BBCode Mode button at the top left of the response panel.

BBCodeMode_zps7313b304.jpg

Then simply paste the youtube address into your post.

After you submit the post hopefully the player will be automatically embedded.
