Mike Johnson, born in the mid-50s has spent His whole life and career on the Central Coast of California. He taught various subjects including Math and History in both Public Schools and the State Prison system. As a historian and researcher he has co authored six books on marble history. For 38 years Mr.Johnson has been selling Marbles at SUNSET DRIVE INN @ the same spot, spot # E3o. The drive-in opens at 4:30 for vendors. During this time he made many friends, given marbles away and sold marbles for almost nothing. He will be miss Mr Mike Johnson. Thank you Mike for all the happy thoughts & joy you brought to our children. Now retired from the swap meet in SLO (San Luis Obispo), you can still find marbles very close to where Mike use to be.

Can't show a pic as I have to backlight using the camera phone. Opaque looks dark green with filaments on the edge. Closer to the surface of the marble than the center. Looks to me as it was intentional. There is also a thin filament that runs thru the marble middle.

Here is my Yasuda/Japanese collection so far.

What kind of core is this on the mica .75?
I'llhavethat1 replied to mccracken's topic in Marble I.D.'s
An unintentional core probably from contamination or (more likely in this case) chemical reaction in the glass. For some reason oxblood red shows up in aqua glass sometimes so I'd look closer and see if that's the case here -
Beautiful big OS ! ๐ฅ RAR
