Golden Rebel Vs The Golden Bee

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Don't know if this will spark any interest, but

I have a few of each Pelt Golden Rebels & what has been

Called a Golden Bee>

Not my names!

I was pondering the similarities & the differences

Also the $$ value of one to the other.

The pics are & Values are from E-bay.

I have seen MORE Golden Rebles for sale

than the Golden Bee's

The $$ value on The GR is almost 2X that of the

Golden Bee.

They have similar coloration & construction.

Price range GR $480.00 $405.00, $560.00

On the GB's $180.00 to $380.00

What are your thought's?

And let's see some Pics of your's.

And values if you care to share??

Thanks

I don't have the foggiest as to current market values on these two but I've a thought or two on the price discrepancies. Sometimes there not being enough of a marble out there to begin to generate competitive interest will hold it down price-wise. Also, I believe, the Golden Rebel has the advantage of a long-established serious collecting interest (Castle & Peterson recognition early on). Therein lies the disparity me thinks.

Like I said " not my name ".

I think that Golden Ruby Bee was the full name, I heard

or read somewhere?

I don't think whatever sells fits here.

I'm not selling anything.

These mibs have already been sold & some one bought them.

My original question was which is harder to find?

And the price difference??

Thanks to all for the interest>

Where are the pics?

I have heard of Ruby Bees which is a Red Bee with aventurine. Red aventurine would be much rarer than black. Regardless, even if Golden Rebels are easier to find than the blended types, they are well known and would bring higher prices than the blended ones imho. Golden Rebels are quite rare themselves.

I have seen more golden rebels than bees too. Bees might be more rare but I just consider them wanna-be rebels. Supermen and superboys have a similar pattern, rarity, and price relationship.

seems a good analogy.

I'm just not gettin' the comparison to a golden rebel, since that term makes sense -- as a rebel where the usual white base has been replaced by gold/yellow. But since a bee is by definition gold/yellow, what the heck is a golden bee?

Or a golden ruby bee? I have a red or ruby bee (yellow base with trans. red stripes instead of opaque black stripes), no aventurine. What the heck is it, then?

Thanks,

Ann

Another case of terminology getting in the way imho.

Folks are getting hung up on the word "bee" instead of talking about the mibs Ray is thinking of. Semdot focused on it - on the mibs that is - 6 ribbon mibs with the distinct red and black vs. 4 ribbon mibs with the red and black running together.

,,, or something like that ,,, if I understand correctly ,,, [insert favorite humble statement] ,,,

There! Not terminology getting in the way. Undefined terminology getting in the way! To me, bee = yellow. Nobody said a bee is six ribbons or 4 ribbons, or red & black running together or red and black being separate. You have to say these things! I'm slow!

Thanks,

Ann

PS - so what do I have?

sorry. I'm not keeper of the pelt definitions. not even totally sure I have the question down correctly, pelt ribbon configs being so highly variable.

but ,,, the word "bee" really did throw a kink in the discussion. :white-flag-25:

Sheesh!

The bands on the GR are black aventurine & red on a golden or a yellow base.

The bands on the GB are black & red aventurine mixed

on a yellow or a golden base.

Either or is hard to find IMHO. The GR are sold more often on

the bay, than the GB.

still no pics?

Sorry for the mix up.

I'll keep my wondering's to myself from now on>

thanks for confusing me!!

If you already had a strong opinion on the matter why even ask ? I do not see how someone could get confused from a very simple thread like this one.

And why would you post a frustrated qoute when people are trying to help you with your question?

Sami

And understand what you're talking about? Not everyone here is an expert in everything --

Thanks for the clarifications --
