Handmade Slag With "?" Inside

1" amber slag. It has bands/threads of white inside and bands/threads of something that glistens when looked at in the sun or bright light. At first I thought it may be lutz, but why would they put lutz in such a dark based marble? Then I looked some amber micas, where the mica inside was pretty much the same color. But I don't think I have seen bands/threads of mica in a marble before(?). Your thoughts please.

Since it is diffuse, my guess would be that it was an accidental effect.

Looks more like the globs that some times form along some of the color strings in European machine made swirls. They also can get weird fractures on the globs that appear as mica or aventurine?

Hi Dan,Think Galen is right with the fractures,Here's a German slag,it has glittering inside,it looks just like mica.

I think it has some kind of inner fractures,just like yours.

Are we looking at the same features on Dan's marble?

I'm looking at what seems like a mist of very fine glitter.

Well, I don't know what it is, but I do know what it isn't and it is not fractures. It is an old german handmade. However, thank you very much for the input.

I was looking at the middle pic at a looping line a little below center running left to right across the marble. Looked like small roundish fractures extending downward off the color(white?) line

Okay, I see the description now. We're supposed to be looking at "bands/threads". All I saw was a dusting of sparkle over the top of the middle pic. *oops*

I think the reflection from the Alligator(?) surface on which the marble was photographed is distorting the picture. Maybe a different image and/or a backlit photo would help.

Nice marble, and 1" too? I think I see what you mean and probably a chemistry thing (non-intentional) but hard to tell unless it's in-hand. Can't say I've seen mica show up unexpected, but aventurine does show up once in a while in odd places.

I tried to backlight it, sorry for the pic. The darker bands are the ones that glitter.
