Post Your Aventurine ....

Now if I started a post with "just for fun.." it would mean there's some 'funnin' going on.

But that's not going to be the case for everyone. So I have to ask about the Zaboo mibs.

Have they been given some 'extra highlights' or something of that nature?

Along with the marbles, that base is just fantastic!

So much more impressive than three regular stands would be! ( :

Also wanted to thank Paul for the Blue Wasp explanation.

I have two monitors running and adjusted for different purposes.

Wasn't going to see any blue on the first one no matter how hard I looked.

But when I moved the picture next door it became obvious.

Thought I remembered the same type of marble from Chad's great

series of Pelt posts from not long ago.

When I found them, the same thing happened with his shot.

If someone could come up with some reasonably inexpensive and easy to

use calibration software that somehow automatically made everyone on a

board like this see photos exactly the same way.....! ( :

So it looks like zaboo and Paul both have one of these too. (Page 1, posts 5 & 11)

We all vary a tiny bit, but I hope I'm right in assuming that they're essentially the same.

I asked about this one years ago, but I'm having brain gas, and would appreciate it if

anyone would like to comment on it. I think it was Steve (a la psia-boy) who mentioned

that I'd probably see some golden yellow (obvious in Paul's mib) in the black if I could get

close enough. Forgot to do that, so I'm going to go 'beau-coup macro' on this sucker real soon.

Will post the shot if it's halfway interesting. ( :

Thanks!

You're right about 'shooter' (15/16), even though the photo

doesn't really give a clue. Did they not make smaller ones?

Boy, I'm really glad those Rosenfeldt marbles were a gift and

you're not obligated to part with them! They're just brilliant. ( :

Where's Paul?

[Wait a minute! With my current schedule, this is like late Saturday night for me.

And that just seemed like such a boring question! So I hope you'll indulge me and

let me try it again in a hopefully slightly more entertaining fashion!

Picture a European television commercial. Probably advertising a high-end men's

fragrance, or a very fancy wine. Shot in a dreamy looking black & white, we bounce

from cafe to cafe. And everywhere we go, all we see are beautiful women

whispering to each other "Where eez Paul? Where eez Paul?" Yeah! That's it.]

Is yours a shooter too? ( :

Hi Bob, I am here. No, mine is 5/8 or a little more. It might be a slightly different type but I can't be sure without a side by side in the same shot. The blue in mine, while deep colbalt, is transparent and the rest is a light mint green and a little white. Is yours as well? I got lucky with this one with the lutz, none of it burt out, it all sparkles but is tricky to photograph well due to angle of view compared to light. That is one of the bonuses to shooting flash like Dani does. The two angles are nearly the same.

Oh geesh! Guess we're not the same at all!

Not a hint of green in mine.

And the blue isn't transparent.

Didn't see the transparency in yours, which is

totally my fault. Just wasn't looking closely enough.

Going to blame my interpretation of the green on

'brain function' and 'circumstances', though.

I ignored the green and assumed you had pure white,

because of the many green marbles in the photo.

It would make sense that there could be a green cast

bouncing around if this was a single photograph of

all these marbles in a group. Instinctive reaction.

Of course with hindsight I can see now that this was not

the case. Unless you have one heck of a boulder to

go along with the 5/8!

No boulder to go with it but that would be great to find one. The transparency is rather difficult to see unless you really study it and the light mint green as well so I am not surprised it did not catch your eye right off. I think I remember seeing some closer to yours in the 11/16 range although I do not yet have one. It would make a good pair to yours at that size.

Here's the closeup photo of the black stuff in my marble.

I guess there's a little gold in there, but in practice it

doesn't really have any effect.

Do any of you photo-heads have any ring-flash experience?

Years ago I just assumed that it would be an ultimate marble-shooting tool.

Hasn't happened yet. Why would I get a little bitty ring reflection in the above shot with the setup below?

Expensive lesson. I feel like a five and a half foot tall walking talking rump! ( :
