Ric mentioned that the clear based Rainbos are much more difficult to find . . .

I couldn't find my original comment so I will reiterate here. What I hoped to say is that it's harder to find rainbos with clear transparent glass bases and colored ribbons than it is to find those with colored transparent glass bases and white ribbons. But it's fun to collect the white-ribboned ones in colored glass because there are some colors that are harder to find than others - like aqua, and chartreuse.

I just read the aforementioned post that we both referred to and I didn't see where you mentioned clear glass base as harder to find than others, just that some were harder to find than others. This info is all great and thanks for the added clarification! Makes a guy want to research his clearies 😁

And yes, me too...I'm beginning to have an attachment to Pelts! Loving the variety.

"I" would consider the last pic an MCS (Multi color swirl) as well as the mibs in the first pic. MCS are usually 3 opaque colors other than the green "transparent" base glass. Generally always including "white" but I have seen them with only two excluding the white, but still on the transparent green base. A burnt Christmas tree is on an "opaque white" base with "brownish" or burnt looking ribbons. "I" believe all yours to be MCS. Again another "Very" nice bunch of Pelts Bo

Definition courtesy of the "Peltier I.D. site" sorry I should have just went here in the first place instead of my long winded approach.

I think the categories NLR, MCS & Rainbo are imperfect, and I really have no idea how people distinguish one from another. The blue and yellow on white one you're showing is not a MCS, and I don't think Rainbos have six ribbons, I also don't think folks will call it an NLR so . . . I am hoping someone who knows the differences will give us both a good explanation!

I just read this explanation on the Peltier Info Site, "Peltier Rainbos are a later development growing out of the NLR line. Many of the same colors are used but the main difference is in the ribbon NLR ribbons are laid across the surface of the base where Rainbo ribbons extend into the interior of the base glass."

So maybe it is an NLR, and the number of ribbons has little to do with anything.

These are all in the 31/32" size. Does it seem like Peltier made alot of 3/4" and bigger marbles ? Compared to other makers? The Red Zebra pictured to the right I believe is a NLR, the others I don't know.

FWIW  I’ve always sorted most of my Pelt by ribbon count. 3/3 NLR. 2/2 Rainbos but both are Rainbos. You can see it in the patterns of the Multi-Swirls as well.

Me too, but a lot of 2/2s are now NLRs too - even some baseballs, I guess.

And FWIW, I consider the Miller Swirls to be NLRs too. Although, . . .?

ID'd as a Metallic Pelt Rainbo, quoted as being a very tough find. Another marble I have had for a while,  discovering it for being  a Rainbo after closer inspection and posting it for exact ID. With rarity being the case, thought I would share on a Rainbo thread!
