Your best marble display stand ideas

Recommended Posts

Often, when i take pictures of my marbles, the marble will not settle in one particular spot. I’m sure that I’m not the only one with this world evolving and prime time news worthy problem. 😉

I have a few idéas that I’m sure will work but I’m curious; What do you put under your marbles to keep them still for the camera? Show and tell! 😊

I agree with Art, anything like a rubber "O" ring or rubber stand works excellent. Prohibits the mib from rolling or moving. For pics I use a hard plastic "O" ring so I can easily rotate or position the mib.

This is how I display all mine in either curios or display case shelves etc. besides the ones in cases. The rubber protects the mib from any possible scratching.

The seller i buy from on ebay started out by making golf ball displays, then shifted to marbles using smaller recesses. He has a sliding Plexiglas cover for dust control, Also good for earthquakes:)

I used a hollow tube metal tube, ~3ft long, jammed it into the grass and set the marble on top.  With my whopping 5MP camera at the time, thought these turned out pretty true to condition and colors as seen in-hand.

Smart! And you get a nice bokeh as well with all focus just on the marble. 👍🏼

Bought some new things at the hardware store yesterday,  the rings i normal use are expensive little things , like 12 euro for nearly 50 of them

Now i have bought this....100 pieces for 5 euro , i can separate them and i have 200 cups...and its plastic so better for the marble i guess

I have seen small, transparent silicone o-rings... That feels like my thing. 😎

A  lighted stand I repurposed for larger mibs over 1 1/2" I cut out some foam to fit around top, made for a good lighted stand & also worked well for seeing any interior structure. I made a bunch of these, kinda like Christmas year round !!

Great light box and a great marble as well Chad.

If anyone out there is not familiar with these, you will be if you start looking. Akro made a lot of them and I cannot ever get enough. The crystal are quite common although some slags were made--I have a green/white combo. No marks makes them a cheap purchase.

They are candle holders that are made perfect for holding big marbles--a 5/8 will stand on top nicely but I would not go much smaller. They were made to reflect/collect light . Some of the coolest crystal glass items by Akro to look at IMHO, simple but well made, they feel polished.

The images show a 1 3/8 corkscrew on top for reference. I have a 2 1/4 inch handmade that sits on it quite comfortably--at least in Wisconsin home of very few earthquakes.

Display--On!!!

I decided to use my "Jelly Belly" jelly bean machine for marble display too a little while back. They have always been a favorite around here with their 50 original flavors for years. Found mine at an antique mall for only a few bucks. You should try some, Joep! I'm sure you could find them online 😊
