  1. haven't updated due to family illness; here's a brief update;

    we had 18 tables and between 200-300 people come through; folks were still coming after noon;

    I don't think we had big buyers but lots of people making some buys, looking and learning;

    most of our sellers were smiling and said they did well;

    I have a new profound appreciation for those of you who organize and hold marble shows;

    I have a list of suggestions to improve the show also;

    marble people are really nice and helpful folks; thanks to Rich and his sweet wife for some photos;

    I hope all of you get to meet Rich at some time; an incredible guy!

    thanks also to Chuck G who helped with a lot of IDs; people brought in tons of marbles!

    (that's me trying to ID marbles a couple of nice ladies brought in;

    they had a blast and bought a few marbles)

    will post more info later

    Gary Gregory

  2. Thursday night update:

    we had nine rooms open for trading and a lot of activity; there are some incredible marbles here;

    I held a green guinea, and some jaw dropping hybrid popeyes and oxbloods, and killer Peltiers here;

    I talked with Rich Shelby until after midnight; he is an extremely knowledgeable and very personable fellow; his work is incredible; his room was very busy; his wife is hopefully going to take some pics at the show; more folks coming in today; we are at capacity at 20 tables for Saturday; if you are within driving distance of us, come on; you will not be disappointed. Gametech, look forward to meeting you.

  3. Suzie, I recall talking to you some time ago.

    Chuck G is going to monitor the show and provide me with feedback, one area

    will be date; I'll also get feedback from our sellers; I support all shows and don't

    want to schedule the same time; September may have some issues for our area;

    I suspect that once your dad got here, he would be ok;

    your drive isn't bad, great people, marbles, and food might convince him;

    If you want, I'll talk to him personally; give me a call tonight

    Gary

  4. Monday afternoon update;

    Right now, we have about 15 rooms lined up and about 16-17 tables for Saturday;

    we are getting close to capacity on tables; please let me know if you've decided to attend;

    the group room rate is still good; although I'm still anxious, this show is shaping up to be good!

    Rich, good to talk to you and looking forward to meeting you and that new designed marble;

    some think it's time for Chuck G. to sell some of his 1000s of Peltiers (and a few of his hypops)

    Gary

  5. Our show is two weeks away! Currently, we have about 12 tables /rooms; a lot of great marbles and people coming;

    Ken Dunteman from the old Mountain Home show is coming; he has had health issues, but is excited about coming; if you have considered coming, now is the time to call for a room or table (see info above).

    The next three weeks are great ones for marble collectors across the country: Dani's show in Seattle, the Akro West Virginia show, the Canton, Ohio show and our show in Arkansas. Marble shows are very exciting; once you attend one, you are hooked! Hope you can make one of these shows.

  6. Good morning to all

    We are about a month away from our first show, Saturday, August 4 from 9am-3pm, Pocahontas, AR with room trading Thursday and Friday. Rooms and tables are looking positive and a lot of good marbles are coming. Please call me, Gary Gregory, at 870-647-1034 or email me at [email protected] to reserve at table (s) ($20). Call the Day's Inn at 870-892-9500 to reserve a room ( mention the marble show for the group rate $77 plus tax, includes continental breakfast. We are hoping you can come join us for a great show. If you are in Southern Missouri or Illinois, Western Tennessee, or parts of Arkansas and plan on coming in for the show only, that's fine; just give me a call to reserve a table.

  7. I like that suggestion; we decided on Northeast AR marble show hopefully to help folks know

    where we are geographically and find us; my orignal post indicates Pocahontas as the epicenter

    of a number of larger towns; we thought Pocahontas might be to narrow a title; hopefully,

    like the Mountain Home show, we hope to grow to where folks are familiar with us; thanks fo the interest

    and all the help getting the word out; I have to miss the Iowa show to attend my granddaughter's high

    school graduation (some things are more important than marbles) but Chuck G will have flyers for all;

    He is really helping me a great deal; I'll be at the Tulsa show; again for info or tables, call me at

    870-647-1034 or see my above post.

    thanks!

    Gary Gregory

  8. We are excited to announce a new marble show Saturday, August 4, 2012, in Pocahontas, AR. In room trading will be on Thursday and Friday the 2nd and 3rd.

    Location: Days Inn and Suite, 2805 US Hwy 67 South. A block of rooms have been reserved with a discount until July 15. Call the hotel at 870-892-9500 to reserve your room and mention the marble show. There is great BBQ next to the hotel and Mexican and fabulous Chinese just minutes away.

    Tables are $20 and may be reserved by calling Gary Gregory at 870-647-1034 or 870-378-6304; you may also email me at [email protected]

    Also, call or email me if you have questions

    Many of you remember Ken D's outstanding shows at Mountain Home, AR. I first met Les Jones at Mountain Home. We also had an excellent show at Jonesboro, AR a few years ago. All these shows had large crowds.

    There are a lot of collectors around us and a lot of interest in the show; we are working hard to ensure a good public response and hope to carry on the great Mountain Home show traditions.

    We think we have a good location: we are about 3 hours from Springfield, MO; about 2 hours from Southern IL; about 4 hours south of St. Louis; about 3 hours north of Little Rock; about 2 hours from Memphis; we are withing range of our Texas marble friends.

    Help us support the hobby we cherish by attending our show and all others you can!

    Special thanks to my close friend Chuck Garrett who has graciously shared his marble show wisdom.
