  1. Yup, that would be embarrassing. I found the marbles in an ice cooler under the house. I have learned a lot from posting pics, but it is so frustrating trying to make sure I have the id right. Many marbles made by diff companies look alike to me.
  2. I received a personal email from another member that was forwarded to me by this site. I tried to reply to it but was unsuccessful. So I thought I would answer his question here. He asked if I was posting pics of my marbles in the Marble ID section so I could sell them or start a collection. Answer: Both...I have 1000 marbles and many are the same kind (probably 50 different kinds, for instance I have numerous Pelt Rainbos, Vitro Conquerors, Vitro Tiger Eyes....then again there are some marbles that are one of a kind), so I thought I would identify them, then keep 2-3 of the same kind, etc and then maybe try to sell the rest. Still have a lot of work to do identifying them though. Then, I would have to research values, etc before I attempted to sell them.
  3. I have posted in the Marble ID section pics of several marbles that I recently found under the house that were in the metal ice cooler pictured in this post. The cooler measures 16"W X 10"D x 12"H, but it has no id markings on it. It is all metal and has rust on the bottom. I estimate it to be 1950's or earlier vintage. I have separated them by color and pattern only. The previous owner of the house was 78 years old when he passed away in 1996. Since he was born in 1918, I assume he had these marbles as a kid and was playing with them in the mid 1920's to mid 1930's (when he was between 8-14 years old.) Many of the marbles show coniserable dings and small pits, but a good portion of them have no damage at all. Can anyone help me identify the marbles that are posted in the Marble ID section?
  4. I found these marbles under the house purchased in 1998. They were in an old metal ice cooler (the type made in the 1950's). There are approxiately 1000 marbles in the cooler. The previous owner of the house passed away in 1996 and he was 78 years old. Can anyone help identify them...year made, company, type, etc.?
