Thanks, Edna, for the pictures. Wish I could have been there. See you Friday.

Thanks, Edna, for all of the pictures! I saved them all for future reference. Great job, and great fun! Steve

This was an especially nice run with some rather spectacular marbles being made. I believe that this is the best Marble Buddies run at Sammys yet.

Great job of posting, Edna. I truly enjoyed the experiences that were shared with the Marble Buddy group at this run, and the marbles are really nice. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to go through my share yet; in fact, it may be winter before I can catch up. Anyway, look forward to seeing you at this next run and fully expect another great time with a great group of individuals.

I have two German handmades with what we call "aventurine": a start-of-cane latticinio and an onionskin. But I have reserved in my cases spots for other known types: divided core and solid core. I am sure there are others.

This is for Bill Bass. I am sorry that when we talked at the KC show about Art, I had no idea that I would not see him again. I told you that I had purchased several of those giant crease pnntils from him (as well as other marbs). I am so saddened by the loss of all my marble "buddies" and I am sincerely sorry for your having lost a friend.

My first time! Looking forward to it!

This sounds like one of my favorite types of marbles, the MF Christensen oxblood slag. They are fairly rare and usually bring a good price. Even though I am a type collector, it is one type that I collect several examples. Good catch! Steve

Nice one Ric - That is definitely German IMHO. Flanco - your red example is a painted clay, not glazed. Identical marbles made in the states and abroad.
Is the 1 5/8" Green also a painted clay? I think I bought it many years ago as a Bennington. The marbles surrounding it were made by the American Marble & Toy Mfg. Co.

Those ship wreck marbles were sold by Del Morgan with Larry Castle doing the polishing. Some were sold polished and some sold unpolished. They sold a few conglomerates with marbles still stuck with ship debri, shells, sand etc. They didnt know which ship carried them in that there were 3 ships in the immediate area with the all 3 ship bells already long gone. Here is a pic of my conglomerate. It has an oxblood swirl with a faceted pontil. They found only a tiny amount of the oxbloods.
That is absolutely outstanding! I would buy that for sure! Steve

Thanks, Ray. I'll continue looking around for information... Steve

OK. I'm envious! But I will be at the Kansas City show, Lord willing. Steve

I have never seen the airplane before, but that is a great lead. Now, I hate to ask this, but is Ray still with us? I lost contact in the last ten years, and so many of my marbles buddies have left us (and are leaving us). It saddens me greatly. I hate to ask...

OK. It looks as if I have a starting place now. Thanks for the information. Steve

LOL. Well, it's definitely different.Dang, whoever polished that took off *a lot* of the original glass...just kidding...

In 1998 at the Buckeye Show in Columbus, I purchased this contemporary "sulfide" in amber glass. It is only 1/2" in diameter, the smallest I have seen. The front has a person's face or mask while the reverse says "Carol Ann." Has anyone seen one similar, or does anyone have any information about this marble or who might have made it? Thanks.

Thanks, Rich. I can't say for sure, but my records indicate that Sam & Dave's Cleanout Run which I have noted also as the Bullet Proof Run was on 5/2/2013. I would like to confirm that production date. What I do know for sure is that the Tin Lizzy Run was held on 9/23/2013 instead of the scheduled 9/24 date. Steve
