After taking a few months off to take care of my mom after a devastating health diagnosis, I'm trying to take some "me" time & stare at beautiful glass orbs again.
So can someone please tell me what tray I should sort this beauty in to, Vitro, Master, Marble King.......? I'm somewhat stumped. It's 19/32 & I don't think it's veneered.
Thanks in advance

You have a Peltier "Superman" there" imho.
Pretty cool findl! Nice big size as well.
I look at the damage, construction and wear on the marble and this convinces me.
Nice find for sure regardless of the condition.
Vacor "Serpents" can fool some of the very best--this was a good ask for sure.
Pleeease do not get this one polished---
.
I appreciate all opinions and hope to see some more.
Marble--On!!
No kidding, huh?!? I wondered but thought no way.
Nope. No polishing plans here, it'll end up on the bay at some point. I've realized I'm really drawn to swirls, I find so much beauty & artistry in the abstractness.

Hope these help!

That's what I thought. In hand they don't seem like they we're made at the same company even. Different eras?

The top I believe to be Vacor, is the bottom as well? The colors are a little different. The one on top has what I say look like brush strokes in the blue, bottom doesn't. Top has orange peel, bottom doesn't. If not Vacor, then what? Top: 15/16 about 24, 25mm. Bottom: 13/16 about 20mm.
Thanks again!

I think it's pretty cool for someone to be looking out on your behalf. Quite the mix. Top pic has at least 3 decent Akros (Ades/ringers/Imperials...can never remember which is which). Some handmades (clay, Agate and beat up glass). And a bunch of machine made Vitros and catseyes. a fun batch to sort and learn from. As much as I like yardwork I like marbles more, lol
I agree, thank you! My problem is I love both. I get into one, get sucked down a trail of some sort, & forget the other! But the weather round here has been so wet lately that most days it's been all about mibs & lawn work's been all about potential flood mitigation, so not quite as enjoyable!!

Oh yeah, I agree, nothing over the top or anything & he paid less than $5. He is VERY, um, I'll call it "frugal". A serious haggler.
I was how daring the Domestic Associate coming home with a giant bin of mibs I've never seen before & saying let's go do yard work instead of looking through the mibs.

We have the largest free fair in the state, hundreds of thousands flock here every August. Use to love it as a kid but much prefer Mabel size festivals these days.
Domestic associate & I were both born & raised here, (met in jr. high) & lived here most our lives. He's a drummer & he's played a lot of the smaller festivals in Southern MN, Northern IA, WI (some farther of course), as well as the bigger stuff & yep, the small town festivals are the best!

Wouldn't that be fun? In this area it would be myself, You Steph, Melissa and Art for starters....
Hey William!
Didn't notice before but I once played a softball tournament in Mabel, had a blast! I'm in Owatonna, not too far.

This is the way--post these two together and any others that you have that may have the same colors involved.
We will all try to track these down for sure.
I am with Chad here, they do not look Peltish enough to be a Pelt.
We may be looking at some foriegn marbles here.
These are very cool and I would love to see what the final results are.
Marble--On!!
Done in new topic. Thanks!

You got some crazy mibs , I agree with Chad...
I know, right!

Aw crap, yep I meant 9/16th, dang fat fingers! I have to admit I never considered Pelt or oxblood, not because it couldn't be but because I hadn't considered anything as this mib boggles my mind. To me it looks like a marble that was drawn in a comic strip. Also, I thought it was straight up orange, but after Chad's comment I had the Domestic Associate look, he's an artist & can see & separate colors WAY better than I can, & he says yes there's red in there & yes, it looks like there could be oxblood.
Here's a few back lit.

Stopping in without a clue
in Marble I.D.'s
Posted
Hey all, been awhile. Mom's making it longer than anyone thought (YAY!!!!!) so I still don't get to mibs often but I grabbed this one to roll around my pocket this week & I have not a clue what it is. No light shines through, loaded with lutz, assume polished or torched? Can't even decided contemporary or vintage....1'.
Thanks ahead for your time!
