  1. UPDATE: Stephen Bahr tells me the marble is a Heaton. I think a key diagnostic for him is the OPEN VENT.
  2. Thank you! Can you tell me which features led you to say Vitro?
  3. Thank you. So I am learning! How is a maker to be identified?
  4. There are 3 Vanes and a fourth vane that is completely clear and can just barely be seen in the first 2 of the group of 6 photos. There is a cut or a pinch or a cold fold (which is it?) that crosses the pole where the vanes meet. The base is clear without a hint of a green tint (the green in some of the photos is reflection from the vanes). Diameter = 0.638" So, what do I have?
  5. Looking for help to ID> 0.61" "Seam" apparent in first and last photo.
  6. Thank you! Is the reason you say Vitro because the veins appear to end at polar seams? I cannot see a seam, but the linear correlation of the ends along a line suggest there might be one. Is that your clue for Vitro? I have this sketch in mind: Here is a detail photo of the area (within the ellipse) I am wondering if it can be defined as a seam: For Vacor, I was focusing on the bubbles within the clear base.
  7. I am new to Marble Attribution and looking for confirmation or correction: I think this is a 6 VEIN (the veins go to the poles) Caged Cat's Eye Could it be by Vacor? 0.625" I know the marble is from the early 1970s or earlier (my kids played with it in the late 1970s) Photos of veins meeting at the poles:
