The Nickel Guy
Today I made my very first clay marbles, as I got to number 14 I was getting the hang of it. My first one was a bit of a dud. The lower left bottom one, yellow and black. I have some optimism with this new undertaking. I will come back here and post what I make. Anyone else is certainly welcome too. Please do post yours as well if you make them. I did learn that black clay is not my friend in some instances. Next batch will be better. SequoiaBET
Nice ones there, Nickel! Funny you posted this, I just happened to find some I made about 10 years ago when my wife was doing Fimo stuff. I was just playing around one afternoon and made this batch. I had totally forgot about them until I found them again a couple of days ago. Here's the pics- one with flash and one without. 2

I need to improve my workspace too. I hope that as I get more experience I can make some that look like yours. It is a lot of work and time right now but I bet I'll do better as I keep trying. SequoiaBET
Those are nice! I remember that it was a lot of fun making them. I know when the clay is old or it's cold outside, you really have to work it to get it nice and malleable. You can use some of the same techniques in clay that they do in glass- particularly cane making. The possibilities are nearly endless. I remember seeing some really amazing clay marbles on line. If I recall correctly, Marlow Peterson made quite a few of them too.
