I like marbles, old & new
Purple, pink, red & blue
There’s one with Lutz & Aventurine
Whose sparkle looks so very keen
Small & big & in between
All the ones in my dreams
I like ones that come in bags
Even with the old price tags
I have some nice ones
The eyes they do not hurt
Took a lot of work to get them
Because they came from the dirt
I like Pelts, they draw my eye
I like to look, I like to buy
Extra money, I’m ebay bound
To see what treasures can be found
The beat up shooters, what tales they could share
Of the kids who triumphed while in their care
Games like keepers and ringer Long ago played
Lost many a marble to the old school house maid
Oxblood’s, cateye’s, flames “n” swirl’s
Who says marbles ain’t for girls !
New or old, big or small
I love ‘em & collect them all
Jabo, Vacor “n” all the rest
German swirls are still the best.
When I see a Rainbo bright It fills me up with such delight
Then the corkscrew, with its twist is one of the fun ones on my list.
Jackson Marbles are the best,
nobody likes them and that’s are that are left!
Carroll was his name.
But he earned little fame.
His marbles were not great sellers.
And though his business was tragic,
his marbles were magic.
Especially when the lights came on
The bottle of marbles at Grand ma's house
was always a source of my attention.
She'd let me look but never play
they were her's won from year's of competition's
My aunt's and uncle's would never say
but I found out grandma was a "shooter" in her day.
Even my dad lost a few to grand ma's collection
seems they all learned one of life's lesson's.
Never think your the best around
someone else wants to wear that crown
