  1. Cool. I hope they send me a catalog from now on. I like them.

    Okay got some pics together.

The Heaton's *Alley's* are mostly flames, but I didn't take the time to set them up for that.

Here's the Gropper Boxes.......Check out the shipping label. Tell's what's in there.

Shipping box has wear....but the inside boxes are like new.

So staying on topic...All in All, I'm happy that I sat thru the 7 hour auction.

    Thanks for looking!

  2. Well, I haven't recieved my stuff yet, but FedEx says today it will be here.

I did call Morphy's the other day to ask about the printed catalog. It came today...

WOW very nice!!!!!!!! 296 page hardback book, on just that auction. I now see why it's 30 bucks, plus .75 cents to mail.

    Super nice....

    EDIT

Okay my stuff came today. I'm pleased with my buy's. The suliphide looks better then pictured.

My Gropper boxes look like they have never been touched. The shipping box for the 4 gropper boxes has some wear. It even has a label on the end. I haven't seen one of these boxes before, pretty rare??

So, I'm good. I haven't looked at the Heaton....Alley's yet.

I'll get some pictures in a bit.

    Hello All.

Got Marble Mail from a generous board member. These are very nice! All CA's.

Please note top left corner is an Alley CA Mimic.

Top Right is a HTF white base with blue. Now this one has eye appeal, very striking in hand.

I received these as a lesson with black and white and what to look for. Row 2 Left

I have been schooled, all the black and white ones (which is a large bag full) I have are NO WHERE near what a real CA should look like.

Top row 3rd from left is really nice, very dark purple.

Just wanted to show these off and send thanks to my teacher!!!

  4. Thanks for showing the pic's of the marble. The super large version is very helpful!!! As a polisher, I'll tell you what i see. It appears that at some point it was polished, whom ever did it, didn't clean the heads/machine/grit right. Left a piece of grit from a earlier stage and BAM, lines/scratches. It is very clear if you look under the high light in the photo, see how it in a circle pattern, scratches.

I'm not sure about all that crazing around the pontil, tho.

Now what to do with it. If it were mine, I'd run it in stage 2 for about 5 minutes (remove scratches), then about 2 hours in final polish (very watery) and it should come out very beautiful.

My buddy has one of the 300x microscopes on a stand with the long tubes, you have to stand up to use it, anyway. He would put the marbles I would do for him under it, no lines or anything, he was always amazed at my work. I'm hoping to get back into it. I sold my machine years ago, and I may be able to buy it back.

If I'm off base with this post, just ignore it.

It's still a very pretty marble, IMO.

  5. Wow....you guys got some great stuff!!!!!

No tax on my invoice.... 17.00 for shipping.... 65 for 20%, but I'll opt for the credit card and get it for 18%. I guess they have to pay those 35 employee's some how. LOL

Thanks for the info on the Alley's!!!! Does anyone know when the gropper boxes were made. Steph said she has an ad for 1926....

I was going to get that hazy child sulphide...it went for 25 bucks....my bid button wouldn't work.....

Those possible CA sulphides were selling like gold.....???... way over estimate. I wonder if new collectors think that they were a vintage USA made marble or something....???

  6. Hello All,

Well I watch the whole marble auction go down.... Wow, that was something.... Over all I wonder if some (a lot) wouldn't have done better as an eBay auction. A few shocked me as how high they went. And as well, a few that didn't get much attention at all. At time I felt like it was being rushed, except for when they seemed to want bids...ie CAC's and such. A few went so fast I didn't even have time to hit the bid button. Anyway, it was something to watch and learn.

    I got these two auction.......

Lot#: 1700 Description: Lot of 6: Marble Boxes.**

Lot#: 1728 Description: Monument Stage Sulphide Marble.

So how did you guys/gals do????

    Please share!!

    Thanks

  7. Hey Everyone!!

Okay thought I talk about this subject.

IYO, what do you think are HTF type/kinds of marbles.

I'll start. I think Akro white base with Yellow cork screw's are almost impossible to find, so I would think they are HTF, if not even rare.

Checking eBay, None in forever. I tell my buddy all the time.....how many do you have? And he just smiles. None.

    My picture soon.
