  1. The 7/8" shooter marbles in this Vitro bag have squiggly red/orange and yellow ribbons and remind me of those Mega/Vacor marbles that are called Spaghetti? Or Streamers?
I am going to open the bag so I can look at these marbles better 'cause they have a black/brown/dark purple banana shaped core that is very odd yet very exciting.
(Yes - my dreary life has sunk to this level :D )

  2. Al - I know I owe you photos of the weird Vitro bags with cloudy opalescent patch cats I got off of Ebay a couple of weeks ago. I will make it a priority after all my company leaves.

A few minutes ago I found a Vitro bag with an opaque looking patch cateye like the kind someone asked about and you showed in an earlier thread.
Totally different looking than the cloudy opal patch marbles in those other bags.

  3. Yeah - not easy to see but these x-throughs are quite recognizable and jump right out at you. But looks can be deceiving so maybe I'll rip into the bag.
I keep every bag in an outer protective bag so the bags inside are pretty decent viewing wise. My lousy photos are whats dingy and dusty! :D

I was buying (what I thought to be unusual) bags hot and heavy from late 90's right through 2010 or so. A few I have opened (during homemade wine over-indulgence nights) and a few others I have mixed up the notes I had included with them.
After I get through looking at/admiring these bags, I'm gonna search the cupboards for that Vitro yellow label bag of Red Head Gasoline pastel hybrids I wrestled away from Chuck, Pinx, Randy Go, etc.on Ebay years ago. Remember that auction? My most expensive bag of cats ever.

  4. I finally located some of the gun cases with vintage bags I have been looking for. The cases have not been opened/seen since 2004 and contain bags with the more unusual cat's eyes. Even though the dust is killing me, here I sit with piles of bagged awesomness and I am truly in cat's eye Heaven!

So far I'm seeing a Vitro (red & black label) bag with a transparent five vane hybrid cat (first I've ever come across) and an old 19 count Master Glass bag with a couple of 2 color orange X-THROUGHS!

    Edited to add:
Steph - I'm a perfectionist so can you fix the title and capitalize the c in cats? :D

  5. I'm still looking for my itty bitty pee wee marbles and itty bitty solitaire board that Jane Walker(?) made and sold me many years ago. It's amazing!!

I am still on the hunt for a pee wee Peltier feathered slag, a Ravenswood pee wee Raven, and a pee wee Alley caligraphy. I imagine I'll die in my boots still hunting before I acquire all three of those.

  6. The ones I have definitely have the Vitro vane structure. Years and years of pawing through catseyes, buying original store packaging, and studying the different vane structures, colors, glass qualities, etc. has taught me a lot.

I'll get ahold of Dick and jar his memory as to the date/year he was told they were produced. It's been 12-15 years since I purchased them from him.

Yours look very interesting. Maybe we can both get some better pics. Our cats deserve some love and recognition gosh dang it! :D

  7. Speaking of cat's eye mysteries, I have a bunch of vintage Vitro 4 vane lavender marbles a marble lovin' friend found for me in Indiana. He collects handmades and I collect catseyes so we trade with each other. Anyways, he found a small factory box of these cats and said that they were a one day run and VHTF if not rare.

What's different about these marbles is the lavender vanes are a cloudy lavender.and they have a very fiery opalescence. The base glass is very good quality, smooth as silk, and crystal clear. Just the lavender vanes have the cloudy fiery appearance. A few of them are also hybrid with blue on some of the lavender vanes. They are absolutely gorgeous mibs!

  8. .

Okay cat's-eye lovers - my pics leave a lot to be desired (as the mibs wouldn't co-operate) but here they are. They may not look it from the pics, but I can assure you that the mibs are the size I stated. (Yes Virginia - there is a 1" nine vane)!

The three color 9 vane with 3 white vanes is 1 inch > the three color 9 vane with 3 yellow vanes is 15/16" > the 9 vane green is also 15/16".
The one incher cost me a pretty penny way back in 2004. I bought it at a Block auction and I remember the bidding was fast and furious with quite a few bidders! I have never seen another 1" and I am thrilled to have this marble in my collection! :)

A couple of other favorites from my collection - the turquoise 8 vane is 15/16" and the pretty hybrid 8 vane is 5/8".
