  1. Thanks everyone for the help. I couldn't figure them out but they were pretty marbles and the folks that got them like them very much :-) Steph the red one looked like it was oxblood but I don't think it is. Buddy, the red one was unsigned. I'llhavethat1, it reminded me of Jupiter as well :-) Sue, 92 was a long time ago, 82 was an even longer time ago but it seems like only yesterday, why I was just a lad frolicking in the... Man, how time flies :-) Thanks again all, Joe.

  2. Hello everyone,

I have finally reached the point where I have to sell some of my marbles. I have promised my wife for some time now that I would sell my extras and that time has arrived.

My auctions will start on Sunday evenings at 10:00 pm Eastern Time and will run for one week. Please make sure to put me on your eBay Saved Sellers list as I will be listing marbles each week until the extras are gone.

I will also be selling some marbles for some other people as well so there should be a pretty good variety of stuff each week. If you would like to sell some marbles on consignment check out my eBay about me page for the details.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to e-mail me or give me a call. If you call and get the machine please leave a message and I will get back with you

    Thank you very much,

    Joe Street

  3. Lou and Edna, thank you. I know I'm off topic here but if I can ask one more question I promise to go away :) Is anyone here using Google Chrome or Mozilla and if you are have you noticed anything? OK I will cease using the marble forum for tech support if you must stone me please throw large marbles :) Thanks again, Joe.

  4. Hello everyone,

I’ve had some people tell me that they’re experiencing some problems reading certain pages on my website. In particular are the Marble Photography page and the Buy/Sell Marbles page. I think that it is a recent update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows 7. I have Windows XP at home and I don’t have any problems but at work I have Windows 7 and I see the problem on the two pages (for the record I only look at my website during lunch and breaks :)) If anyone else has noticed any pages on my site not displaying correctly could you please let me know? I’ve placed a link to both of the problem pages below, if you happen to check it out could you let me know what operating system you’re using and what version of Internet Explorer you’re using? Thank you for your help, Joe.

Marble Photography Page– Footer runs into text above it.

Buy/Sell Marbles Page– Text overlapping text above it.

PS this is not an elaborate scheme to get more visitors to my website although I do reserve the right to use it as a future marketing ploy :) Thanks again.

  5. Hello everyone, here are a few (quite a few actually) pictures and some commentary of the 2011 Indiana Marble Club Show. There were a lot of really nice people and marbles on hand which made for a terrific event! Beth Morris and Company did a great job as usual in putting the show together. I’ve posted more marble pictures in this pictorial than I usually do, if you would like to see higher resolution photos of anything please let me know and I’ll e-mail them to you. If you would like to contact any of the folks selling marbles e-mail me and I’ll get you their contact info.

5 George Sourlis makes some really cool posters, these posters show marble boxes and

Timelines of when they were manufactured. If anyone is interested George sells these at very reasonable prices.

    6 More posters.

9 Marble nut Lonnie Conyers, caught here sleepwalking around the hotel lobby.

10 Lonnie after he woke up, looks kind of grumpy. Thanks again Lonnie for the Kokomo’s.

11 Another marble nut, Bud Shute. He usually keeps a better eye on Lonnie but he dropped the ball on this one.

12 A couple of marble collectors checking out Bob Murphy’s marbles.

13 Bull Shooter extraordinaire, Art Jones seen here surfing the net in the hotel lobby.

14 Arts ribbon proving that he is the best Bull Shooter around. Art told me that 1968 was when he peaked but I can testify that he is still a remarkable Bull Shooter.

15 Ron Yutzy and a big necklace made from marbles. Ron’s a really nice fellow, the pictures that I took of his marbles unfortunately didn’t turn out very well.

23 Kids playing with some marbles that Pete’s better half gave them.

24 “Some Lady” and Eddie Winningham. Eddie is a great guy who is probably going to catch a beating if his wonderful wife or George Sourlis catch him hanging this tight with “Some Lady”.

25 A picture of Chuck and Diane at their table.

26 – 28 Pictures of some of their marbles. In picture 27 you can see a real nice Kokomo, every time I go to a show and see that marble I get excited to see it for sale but when I pick it up the tag underneath says NFS. HERE is a picture of its cousin.

    25-28-3.jpg

    29 – 32 Some more pictures of Chuck & Diane’s marbles.

    29-32-2.jpg

33 Bill Bass, Bill always has a great selection of marbles.

34 – 36 For some reason I took a boatload of pictures of his marbles so here they are.

61-64 Dale DeHart and some of his marbles. There is a neat article HERE about a couple of handmades that he owns, the article was written by Mike Adams.

    61-64.jpg

65-68 These two gentlemen Chris McGuire on the left and David Morse came all the way from Arkansas to display their marbles. As you can see they had a pretty large selection.

    65-68.jpg

69-72 Here are some more pictures of Chris and David’s marbles.

Thanks to all who made it to the end and thanks to the Indiana Marble Club and the marble collectors that set up booths at the show.

  6. Hello everyone,

Here is a report on the Decatur Show. It was a nice show, the drive over to Decatur was fantastic and I got to see a couple of really exceptional things there. One was a Peltier Comic collection that was insane. I was told by several in the know Peltier collectors that it was probably the best in the country. The owner wasn’t letting anyone take pictures yet, I believe that the marbles may be in an upcoming book, but he told me that he would give me a shot at them some time after that so hopefully I’ll get them up on Joemarbles.com or the forums when I get them.

Unfortunately I got there too late to catch Ron, Nancy and Bill, they brought the Alox Machine to Decatur where they gave a talk and answered questions.

Chuck has become a celebrity since the show, he’s probably also single after his confession of a marble purchase; click this link to see what I’m talking about.

    1. A couple of pics of the drive over.

    2. I once read that the Midwestern US was considered the world’s greatest natural resource because of its ability to produce food. Nothing to do with marbles, just thought it interesting.

    3. Our destination…

    4. and why we came :)

    Group-1-3.jpg

    5. A couple of joker’s, Art Jones and Mike Coyle.

    6. Art had this really neat watch chain with an agate attached to it.

    7. As well as some outstanding marbles.

    8. Here’s a “marble” that he gave my son, it’s actually a rubber ball that I thought was a marble then he bounced it off the table at me, did I mention that he was a joker?

    Group-2-3.jpg

    9. James Montiel. James was at the show all three days making marbles; he spent a great deal of time talking with people as he worked. He was pretty interesting, had a cool Marley shirt as well.

    10. A marble he was making for a man.

    11. Another shot of said marble.

    12. Some of James other glass work.

    Group-3-3.jpg

    13. Joseph Cano.

    14. Some of his marbles.

    15. Some more of his mibs.

    16. And his marble philosophy :)

    Group-4-3.jpg

    17. Ryan and his eight beautiful little angels.

    18. A close up of his little blue ones.

    19. Lonnie Conyers sans Bud Shute, Bud went missing.

    20. Lonnie had eight really interesting Kokomo’s (front row), four came home with me. My only acquisition of the show.

    Group-5-3.jpg

    21. Ron Yutzy, I got to Ron too late, he had already packed up his marbles but he’s such a nice guy that I had to take a picture of him anyway. Not nearly as pretty as his marbles though.

    22. Gino helping a lady.

    23. Some more show goers.

    24. A picture of a tractor, just to see if anyone’s still with me. We’re almost to the end :)

    Group-6-3.jpg

    25. Gino Biffany and his sidekick Al. Al claims to be Gino’s chauffer and that Gino pays him in marbles.

    26. Some of Gino’s marbles.

    27. Some more, Gino gave my son a couple of the pretty little blue pee wees in the middle of the picture.

    28. One last shot.

    <a Group-7-3.jpg

    29. Steve Dodson and his Aunt Barbara, Steve and Barbara were really nice. They sent a marble care package home for my kids that weren’t able to attend the show.

    30. Some of Steve’s marbles.

    31. The missing Bud Shute.

    32. Our man and the Master of Ceremonies, Chuck. Thanks Chuck for the wonderful show that you put on, I’m looking forward to the next one already.

Thanks everyone for checking out the report, Joe.

  7. Hey folks,

I wrote the fellow an e-mail and asked him to not use pictures from my site for his auctions. I also e-mailed eBay to inform them of the situation. Of the auctions that he has listed a fair number of the marbles are in my collection. Some of the photos are ones that Alan has contributed to my site (thanks Alan!). I suppose its possible that the fellow could have bought the marbles from Alan's auctions and then noticed the marble pics on my site and took the pictures to use in his auctions. edit, forgot to add that I don't think that is likely.

I hate to disparage anyone but Id strongly caution anyone in regards to bidding on any of the auctions where the pictures came from joemarbles.com. (Pictures with the crazy green background). As I stated above a fair number of the marbles that he has pictured are for sure not owned by the person who has listed them.

    Thanks all, Joe

  8. dr.trj, it was great fun! Thanks for the comment. Rocki, it was very nice meeting you. Marble shows are great and this one seemed to attract a lot of new collectors. The opportunities to learn at shows is incredible and the people are really nice, even to people like me who come along dragging a pack of marble mooching kids :) Thanks again, Joe
