  1. I was in Amish Country Monday and we stopped in a few shops, I was amazed at the reproduction (new) marbles they had for sale, first time I'd seen in hand, what you all have been talking about. Totally blew my mind. I now understand fully why it's a huge issue. Some of them were so good, the only way to tell the difference for me was the glass. The colors and markings were almost spot on. It's a mad world.

  2. It's green, kinda like the peltier green with black swirls that look lightly painted.

Hi Patty- maybe a Ravenswood pistachio? Marbles for a buck! Cool. Can't beat that with a stick.

Oh yes, I was so excited I did a little jig:) and they even came with a neat container which I think is what I bought for the dollar...the marbles were just a bonus! I've never done that before and it made me very happy!

  3. Thanks for the info, I took some photo's with my cell phone but they are very blurry, I added them to my face book if anyone is curious. I was thinking that the green was like the peltier flaming dragon but after holding both in hand I can see a marked difference. Also what I see as black actually looks like a deep red in the photo's. Just making me more curious. Hopefully I will have a decent camera soon.

Which brings up my next question, any suggestions as to a good camera to purchase? I am seriously going out on the hunt to buy a nice decent camera/ Any and all help is greatly appreciated. I see your photo's posted and I would love to be able to take a decent one:) Thanks again in advance:)

  4. Bought some really neat marbles today for a dollar (yeah, I gotta a buzz too) there are some that I think are really cool but one has captured my interest. It's green, kinda like the peltier green with black swirls that look lightly painted. I know, I know you need a photo, but I suck. Off the top of your heads without a photo...any ideas? Where should I look to get info maybe? Pretty please?

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Everything sounds great to me and no I'm in no hurry, trust me I've had the majority of these since childhood. Someone sent me a message but I can't get to it...I've got to be doing something wrong. David I'd love to do the Columbus thing, would you simply remind me close to time? Horses sound wonderful...especially foals.

    Thanks all!

p.s yes, I found my marbles, LMAO but trust me...I laugh, I smile, I drink, and I take prozac.

  6. I dunno, maybe they just don't want to deal with a marble illiterate person who doesn't want to part with her "goodies"...it's early yet. I'm thinking Duffy offered once before but my Dad got really sick and I couldn't follow through, at least I think it was Duffy. It's been so long I'm not sure. Thanks for replying...I get a little paranoid when no one responds:)

  7. Hello everybody! I have finally located all of my marbles and I have them in a place where they can be accessed easily. Is there anyone in or around the Dayton, Ohio area that would be willing to come look at them and perhaps help me with identifying a few of them? I have way to many to post and even if I could I haven't figured out the photo option on here. Thanks in advance:)

  8. Old photos are cool. They never smiled or said "cheese".....

Love the photo Duffy! I have a neat collection of old photographs. I'm not sure how trues this is but I was once told when I questioned why people rarely smiled "back then" is because they had to stand still for long periods of time so that the photographic equipment would work. Like I said I'm not sure how true that is but it works for me:)

  9. I love it, it helps break down my isolation and I've been able to get in contact with old high school friends and people I haven't seen in years. When I did without my internet for those snow days it was what I missed the most of all:) When I can have my Facebook I honestly thing I go through withdrawal. Yeah it's that bad.

  10. I'm still loving this thread, thank you so much for sharing:) It's supposed to rain all week and I'm hoping nothing interferes with me unpacking my marbles. I can't wait to hold them in hands:) I forgot for a while there how much I enjoy them:)
