I started a similar thread a couple weeks ago when an ebay seller had a translucent base rainbo with blue ribbons up for bid that he was calling a Blue Bee. Starting bid was supposed to be around $30. I sent him a photo of a Blue Bee and he still kept the auction going. I don't think this is the same guy although he too said he didn't know what aventurine is.

Do they publish the final bid results of the Morphy auctions when they've ended? Just curious to see what some of those marbles will bring. You can't see the bids so far even on the ones that are to go tomorrow.

That red/white one of Craig's is what I had been thinking is a ringer.

What's an Imperial?

So a Ringer is like a 2 color popeye as opposed to a real popeye with 3 colors? I've had (and still might have) a couple of those but was calling them an Imperial.

I got a handgathered yellow/green CA on one of Alan's Running Rabbit auctions which looks basically like a corkscrew. I also have a few handgathered American Agates that look almost like corkscrews, so based on that I'd opt for yours being not handgathered, although the pattern is killer.

Interesting to see the huge variation in pricing of marbles, both old and new.

I do. It's huge, extremely rare and gorgeous, IMO. And mint. This seller had a similar sized opaque melon ball that went for a bit less a few weeks ago. Purchased by Hansel De Sousa. Wonder who got this one.

Nice BB, Miser. The true Blue Bees seem as hard to find as Green Galaxies and certain other NLRs. When they have the thick blue aventurine ribbons like yours (and mine), they rock. Sami's in line for mine when I decide to sell and if he doesn't want it, there's a list.

I've seen quite a few catseyes being sold on ebay as cyclones or cobras. I think this is one of them.

They do come up on ebay every now and then. I got one recently.

Here are a couple of my lavender slags. The one on the left is 13/16, the other is 21/32.

OK, here's my very colorful "Leighton type". The base is the color of the Caribbean, I swear. I call it my Hansel marble.

Hey Bill, I feel the same way about this kind of marble but if I spent that much $$ on one, my heart would probably stop. It's easily what I'd expect to pay for an upscale side by side refrigerator! When I think about it in those terms, somehow I can never bring myself to jump in and do it. I do have a nice 25/32" one I picked up at a show from an agent for Hansel DeSousa. Will post it if I can get a decent picture later.

Steph, the so-called "Leightons" that look like this are generally considered German-made. Sellers continue to refer to them as Leightons because collectors know that they mean this type. Confusing, huh? Alan B. always qualifies his listings when he puts one up for bid and describes them as probably German-made. Wherever made, I find this type compelling.

Did any of you catch this superb marble that sold yesterday? Wow!! Sure wish I could find out the buyer, just out of curiosity.
