  1. Both nice mibs. And acquired the way we all dream of finding them. Just doesn't seem to happen that way as much as it used to. The blue mica with "oxblood" outer band is unusual and not as common as a blue mica. The oxblood on yours is very nice and wide which is better than the usual thin strands that are more common. I would think that in mint condition it might approach $100 as lesser examples I have seen in the 50-75 range which is what I paid for a 13/16" example. I don't think I have ever seen one much bigger than the one i have in the 20 or so years I have been searching for big handmades so if you happen upon either of those two marbles over an inch I have a spot in the collection for them. 2. Chad if it was the beat up bumble bee, that is only the second one I've ever seen. First one was 10+ yrs ago I ran it to $200+ on an online auction but never actually had it in hand. Not sure why they would be so rare or better yet does that really mean that Peltier saw no reason to make them. I have had two or three wasps that were over 23/32 but no aventurine and not red base with black laying on the surface like smaller ones. Maybe this topic will shake some out but I doubt it. I've been looking and asking for them for at least 10yrs. Bill

  3. Well guys interesting comments. I think they had about 60 rooms. There were 40 on the room list at the desk but a good number don't list their rooms. I arrived Wed. pm and I had a good show selling which is not the usual case for me. I must say that i didn't buy as much as some years but if I had been looking for WV mibs ( Alleys, Akro etc), and high end Chrissies there were plenty to be had. I did get 3 1-7/16 melted pontil horiz. slags (2 navarres and one Barberton) paid about what I would have paid for the best one 5 yrs ago. Halls did seem quiet evenings more than some years but when my room was open there were always people in it. Maybe I just walked the halls when everybody else had gone to eat. I would like a show back in Columbus simply because its 2hrs longer for me to Canton. Nice clean well laid out hotel for a show. Way better than the crazy layout when it was in Worthington. It was nice to see the great handmades that Frank brought even if I couldn't talk him out of any. Which is probably the same comments many made about me. Bill

  4. I bought a nice solitaire board from Ebay UK. I have a PO BOX at the main post office here in Lexington I use just for ebay and have a great relationship with the staff at the front desk. Seller from UK says Royal Mail from England doesn't want to ship to PO BOX and to do so will cost $40+. I agree to pay. I check my box daily so just patiently waiting. After 8 days I check the tracking info from Royal mail. It say attempted delivery was made at 9:00am that morning. I had checked box at 10:30am no pkge or notice. I check the next day still no delivery or notice. I go home get the tracking number and go back that afternoon. Ladies at the front desk said give them the tracking # should be no problem. They checked all the places it should be no luck. They go back to international parcel receiving. No luck they run USPS internal tracking which says at the top not for veiwing by non USPS personel. It say attempted deliv. the first day and at 1:00am day 2 declared an invalid address and returned to sender. So it was in the main post office for less than 48 hrs. Now luckily the package did end up back at the sender. The address on the package has the correct PObox country city zip code + 4 digits for the box number. Ebay has given the seller the shipping cost back. Now the question is should I give him my home address and hope for the best knowing it has to go through the same receiving channels at the post office and then get to my carrier and if I'm not home will they be able to find it at the post office when I go to pick it up? First time I have had problems with USPS Bill

  5. Bob,

Do you think that was a legitimate find? The board and group of slags looked to be the board that Bert had offered me two years ago and then had it on ebay for a while last year, even the same mix of melted pontils and mf slags, same ratio of damge. It is still basically hollywood.

  6. Bob,

I purchased a marble on ebay in Dec 2009. I soon recieved email from other buyers who had not recieved their marbles. Aparently others had problems with seller also as paypal refunded my money a few weeks later no questions asked. I went to the post office in May 2011 and found I had a package. I was not expecting anything so I was puzzled. I opened the box and it contained a blue soild core in poor condition, as was the box with no legible return address. I started through my records and sure enough it was the marble from Dec 2009. Seller was no longer on ebay no way to contact. Mine wasn't shipped nearly as far but it took longer.
