  1. Lloyd,

I did the brickhouse breakfast and had Vinershnitzel at Ronnegers but didn't make the run out to the Lark. BTW I did pick up some great marbles. 1-9/16 naked single ribbon, 1-1/4 purple glass caged latt. 1-1/8 caramel swirl, nice 1-5/8 red onion/joseph and a nice christensen swirl/flame, some vitro blackies a 1" navarre, and some of the latest run of Jabos. Hows that for diversity. :-) Bill

  2. Got back online about an hour before this one sold. (power out for 9 days). I'm one of those crazies who loves these "leightons" which I think it is pretty much agreed that they are German rather than US. The price for this one was pretty much inline with what would have expected to pay, and probably would have bid if I had been in a better mood and warmer. Size is about as big as they come and nice enough condition. If had more oxblood and a more exciting pattern was easily worth double that. I've paid more for smaller ones and sold smaller ones for more than that. Like any mib it is in the eye of the beholder.

  3. Greg,

Me neither, almost didn't look at it, I'm partial to onions but lean toward the larger ones, kind of just gave it the cursury pick up/looksee and turned it over and WOW! have seen onion end of canes but never a floater. Was the easiest purchase of the show for me. Now the hunt is on for a bigger one:-) Bill

Here are pics of some of my finds at Amana. 1-3/8" multi layer onionskin ribbon, navarre horizontal, onionskin end of cane with floating mica. Bill

  5. I made Amana Thursday night. There were plenty of great marbles to go around. I sold two horizontal navarres and then turned around and bought another horizontal.,go figure. The pleasant surprise was a 5/8" onion with floating mica that was also an end of cane with the core flowering out. I'll try to get a good pic of it and post it. It's always great to get to Amana and see friends from the west coast who don't make the eastern shows. Bill

  6. Andrea, sorry you couldn't make the show. The usual crowd was there. I don't know if it would be a green galaxy. If a green galaxy is a green base with yellow and black aventurine, then n o I guess not. It is more like a rebel but the red is replaced with green. Here is a close up pic. Oh I forgot the other marble I got was at the show was a shooter golden rebel.

  7. Got back from the show Sunday night. Not a huge show but I have come to the conclusion that it is my favorite. Bert makes it special, his zeal for marble collecting is contagious. I always sell more at this show and I definitely find more special marbles to add to the collection at this show than any of the others I frequent. A big thanks to Bert for all the effort he puts out and hopes that this show will continue to be on my calendar. Here is pics of what I found. 2-3/8" naked single ribbon, 1-1/2" horizontal navarre, 7/8" odd blue navarre, 7/8" onion with mica, 1-1/2" odd colored green, oxblood like red onion, and a white base with green and aventurine black ribbons peltier.

  8. Hey guys I thought about this hand gathered guinea idea and decided on a different approach to look for evidence of a 9. I took my guineas to the shop and started tapping on one with a hammer, thinking that it might break along a fold and reveal a swirling 9. The first one, well I guess my hammer was to big, anyway too many little pieces, so the next one I tried like you see them cut diamonds in the movies, you know a chisle, hell I missed the chisle and hit my thumb, jumped around cussing and threw the hammer down and it hit the original guinea box with the remaining guineas in it and of course they all spilled on the floor and now none of them are mint and several broke in half just like I had originally hoped to do but I still don't see a nine. I'm open for suggestions on what I should do next. Bill
