  1. A dear friend, Weldon Eaton, has passed away. Weldon loved to give marbles to children. He kept them in the front pocket of his overalls. At his home in Texas, he and Edna have a marble tree out front where, in the hollows that the roots created, they left hundreds of marbles for children to collect as they walked passed. I would like to help continue that tradition by leaving marbles on his grave. An anonymous donor is having a stone vessel made in which to place the marbles. Weldon had a huge amount of friends all over the country. We all should have an opportunity to add to the marbles. If you would like Edna’s address please email me. When you send her your donation of marbles for Weldon’s grave, please include a note about a memory you have of Weldon or a note of condolences. Since Edna and Weldon were a huge fan of contemporary marble-makers, I don’t want to leave you out. Maybe you could contribute in one of two ways. If you have a collection of small prototype marbles, you might be able to send those along. Or, if you wish, you could make one marble in memory of Weldon and send that to Edna to keep on a special shelf in her home. If any of you know the email address of a Contemporary Marble-maker, please forward this to them. Elizabeth
  2. Bill Best Wishes on this day. In fact, I hope you find the best marble you have ever seen. Elizabeth
  3. Steve presented the certificates and trophies to the recipients of the American Marble Hall of Fame Awards at the friday night meeting of the West Virginia Marble Collectors' Club. Both Howard Powell and Dan Grocki were not in attendance at the Texas Marble Collectors' Show, so Steve drove to West Virginia.
  4. We had so much fun at the Texas Marble Collectors' Club Show that it is on our circuit from now on. Everyone should give it a try. I came down from Ontario (a 29 hour drive); Cal and Sheryl drove from California. We all bunked in with Edna and Weldon the week before the show. I loved meeting Ann - what a joyous laugh; Bobby our room mate and great conversationalist; Cal and Sheryl - unique, fun couple; Jim - wonderful 2:30 a.m. talks; Beri and Cork - second time we have spent time together and always a treat; Matt - even though he was so busy looking at marbles he still had time for a chat or two; Weldon and Edna - interesting, witty and great. We are at the West Virginia Marble Collectors' show right now and Steve has presented Howard and Dan the American Marble Hall of Fame certificates and awards. Both were thrilled to be honored. As soon as Bill or Gail email me the photos, I'll post them here. Elizabeth
  5. Ron and family, Our prayers are with you, Sarah and your family. God bless. Elizabeth
  6. Happy Birthday Ron. Please excuse the late wishes. All the best and I hope a great marble falls into your hands. (I know a bunch of them will next month). Elizabeth
  7. Interesting topic. There have been many studies about internet conversations. Two that come to mind are that if you type the same way you talk, then your personality does not come through and people take offense. That has happened to me on MSN messenger where I thought the other person was being offensive and it was not true. The other one that I have read is, how through the anonimity of the internet, people say things they would not say to anyone in person. I have been to a lot of marble shows and, boy, the comaraderie is outstanding. It would be nice if the chat boards were similar. If we could all take what is said with a grain of salt and try to put the personality behind the words, we would be a happier crowd. Elizabeth
  8. Beri Fox is a dynamic speaker with a lot of credentials to back it up. I am really looking forward to hearing her speak and meeting her again. Elizabeth
