I saw this discussion, joined up and made a bid.
Who else wants to play? Gotta encourage one another...

QuACK! ;-}
I recently got a new marble buddy duck, myself. I'll post him sometime soon as my avitar, and give the current MarbleBuddy a break.
BTW, in the Santa Barbara area, plain gum ball machines, with no posts, go for more than $69.00!!!!
You got a good deal!.. and it solves the problem of what to do with some of those not-so-special marbles we all have allll over the house.

Than lady in the sulfide... is she folding diapers? ;-}

Thank you all! This is exactly the fun of marble hunting. I found this marble stuffed under some junk in a shop, and for $5.00 I've had a good time with it. There is no end to the variations you find when you go looking for marbles.

OK! I will happily call it "Wound" ... especially since that is a lot more descriptive.
It looks like many many thin strand wound around and around. So.... who may have made it?
I notice Mark Matthews has some that are also this shape, and wound. Is this possibly an early Mark Matthews?
Thanks
ps to Ann .. if you do shake any of those out of your computer, may I have one?

Gonna let em loose on a plane?
Love em!

I found this amazing horizontal swirl at a junk store today, and I am wondering from whence it came.
It is more oval than spherical, and 100% smooth. (and I hope you like my Josh Simpson and my Shmoo cat, who helps with as many photo ops as she can, but the pic with the cat shows a different aspect of the mib.

The top one is my favorite. Really nice work!

My cat is in sooooo much trouble. I swear that is not your cat, it is MINE, and when it gets home it is soooo grounded!
-
so who did make black cats eyes? Two of my black ones have what looks like one wide flat vane, and when you use a mag light, one of the two flat surfaces sparkles.

"older Marble King" is, unfortunately a reality... ever since my kid used the phrase "old fashioned video game" I have had to face the truth. Marble King... 1960's ... the "olden days".
sigh, Your (old) Marble Buddy

oh yeah... that made me think, and I realized my daughter is 15, and probable NEVER crackled a marble ... guess I have to log out and catch up on my parental obligations. If you stick your head out the door, you may just hear the sound of crackling marbles in So. California!

Gene, Thanks for taking over the "newbie" role, I pass the baton to you, though I still feel like a "newbie" in marble land. I joined only about a month ago and already won a marble! Lucky you to be retiring soon... so many marble things to do!
Welcome, Ruth, MyMarbleBuddy

It was about 1 1/2 " when he started...but I don't have an exact measurement. It appears to have lost just more than 1/8 " ...again, rough measurement. Leroy, do you have actual measurements?
Re: cost ... I was surprised at how reasonable his prices are, but anyone can contact Leroy himself if they want more information on the specific size marble they need to have restored.
-
Oh LEROY! My Mib and I are soooo happy together now! Thanks!
-
this is the workmanship of Leroy Johnson. I am already trying to decide which others need to go visit him!

Question: Post #13, Zaboo ...what are those amazing things? You said they were non-CAC, got that part, but what else do you know about them? They are outrageously beautiful. (IMHO ;-} )
