  1. John, actually the fishing around here is "CRAPPIE". I could show you some places, but I'd have to go with you!LOL You'd be better off to bring your bow and shoot carp. Check out Salt Fork lake for crappie and Public hunting Gobblers, or Leesville lake for Musky.

  4. Show is looking great! Checked with the hotel a week ago, 60+ rooms and still growing. I will be there from wed. to sat. I think everyone will love the new location!
  5. Great report Joe! I couldn't make it this year partly because of the weather, but seeing the pics was the next best thing to being there. Your show reports and photos are always top notch! Thank you for the time and effort for posting.

  8. Buckeye Marble Club Winterfest, formerly known as the New Philly show has been moved! Sat. Feb. 13th, 2010- in room trading wed. 10th thru fri. 12th. Due to the renovation of the Holiday Inn at New Philadelphia, the show will be held at the Holiday Inn at 4520 Everhard Road N.W. Canton, Ohio 44718 This is 28 miles north of New Phila. on I-77. After much searching, I have found this to be the best choice for our show. They have a free 24 hour shuttle to and from the Akron/Canton airport (CAK)which is only a few miles away. They have a direct phone line at the baggage claim. The banquet room is very nice and large enough to accommodate our show and will also have a lunch stand. Every room has been remodeled and each room has a 32" flat screen t.v., a microwave and refridgerator. They also have free high speed internet. There are 80 first floor rooms that will be assigned "as you arrive". The earlier you check in, the better your location will be. I WILL NOT BE ASSIGNING ANY ROOMS, SO DON'T ASK! I have negotiated a room rate of $79 plus tax per night. Normal rates are $139-$159. To get this special group rate you must make your reservation no later than Jan. 15th, 2010 and tell them you are with the Buckeye Marble Club The reservation # is 330-494-2770 This hotel is in the center of an enormous shopping area. There is a large shopping mall directly across the street and dozens of great restaurants and buffets within a few blocks. other attractions include the Pro- Football Hall of Fame, Pres. McKinley museum and Canal Fulton Glassworks www.hicanton.com We will advertise in Cleveland, Akron and Canton papers and are expecting some nice marbles to come in "off the street" If you need any other info you can contact me at [email protected] Steve Smith Vice-pres. 10. 150 jars for this auction from pint size to half gallon, George had some of them sorted by company others are just a mixture. If we noticed anything that would bring big money, we pulled it out, but there are still loads of $2-$10 marbles in the jars. We sell the jars by choice throughout the auction.
  11. Just a reminder, the auction is this coming Saturday, Aug. 29th in New Philly
  12. Hey Bill, I remember that show, I think Joe was rooming with Ed Parsons, he showed them to me and I told him they were new mexican marbles, I think he paid $10 each after the kid told him some story about how old they were, I remember him running after the 2 guys, he was furious. LOL
  13. I'll get there thursday, it's off of the I-270 loop at the very north end of Columbus, I think it is exit 23 or route 23, maybe both, just a few blocks south of the exit on the right hand side.
  14. We had around 45 bidders, some sold high and some low, the feedback I got was that most were very pleased with how organized it was, something for everyone, from high end marbles to jars full of commons, this time there will be over 100 jars of machine mades to choose from, jars of pelt rainbos, vitros, marble kings, catseyes, West Virginia swirls etc. One change we made is....this time it will be a 3 hour preview starting at 9:00 because there are so many marbles to check out!
  15. Read the ad carefully, we don't take plastic, only paper.
  16. Motel 6 is literally right next to it. Phone # 330-339-6446. I think their rate is $29- $32 per night. There are also several fancier hotels within a few blocks, Schoenbrunn Inn #330-339-4334, Hampton #330-339-7000, and Super-8 #330-339-6500, also- Knights Inn #330-339-4116.
