  1. This is what I could find.

"Pearlies" are pearl like, often white with a colour running throughthem. A black pearly with a narrow vertical strip of colour is a cat'seye. A green pearly is a froggy. A pearly with many dots of colour is aSpotted Dick. "Oilies" have an iridescent quality similar to the shadesproduced by oil on water. "Clearies" are clear, transparent marbles andred, blue and green clearies are all possibilities.

Spotted dicks. Very rare, blue glass with coloured dots on it.

  2. I am suspicious of that one also, and it's a corkscrew, too, so it probably is Akro. But it's on a translucent green base that is a similar color to the corals, and the coral color is very nearly like the other corals, so why couldn't it be called a Coral? I don't know, I'm asking.

  3. Dear Leonel,

I am truly sorry if I offended you with this tacky thread that I started. I am NOT being sarcastic here, however it may appear to OTHERS. I had no idea that you were VERY RICH. So NOW I understand why you bid the way you do (or why your wife spends your money the way she does). I, on the other hand, am just a poor slob who is barely getting by, so I have to watch every penny. I shouldn't even be a marble collector, because I REALLY CAN'T AFFORD to be one. SO, looks like maybe I am the one who is off MY rocker!

    Yours truly,

    m!b$

P.S.: You must be a REAL HUNK!!! Could you please send me a photo or two??

  4. If you had the intelligence to read between the lines, Galen, you would have understood that my last comment was actually directed toward people like YOU, NOT Leonel. I am sure that Leonel is a true gentlemen, from what I have been (privately) told about him, from people who know him personally. And if he has money to burn, why not spend it any way he chooses. I am in absolute agreement with you on one point: Leonel would not be upset by this thread. He just MAY even find it slightly humorous, as it was intended to be.

  5. This was Sue's post:

I really don't want to sound like a marble snob, but I probably will......

Those are the marbles that made early collectors laugh at people sitting around oogling over machine-mades!! They are "The Holy Grail" types of marbles... If you run across one in the wild, your a legend......Toyota owners, meet the Ferraris!! ;)

    Shipping is only 35.00$......

Wow... I'm surprised. I can understand the security of shipping that sort of thing.

    But, that seems pretty harsh...

  6. Based on their looks alone, I wouldn't have gone higher than about $25.00 on any of them, especially that child's scribble called a lightning strike. HOWEVER, I know that some other collectors would pay MUCH more for them, so I might have gone as high as a couple hundred, and hoped to make a nice little profit when I (immediately) resold them. :)
