Best Question On Marbles I Have Listed
manylittle replied to mmuehlba's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I don't think that that answered the question. Each marble, if you are using standard 5/8 mibs is .625 inches in diameter. a square foot is 12 inches long and wide and six square feet is about 2 feet long by 3 feet wide or 24 inches long by 36 inches wide. Take 24 inches and divide it by .625 and you have the number of marbles in the shortest row, or a line 2 feet wide. Take 36 inches and divide it by .625 and you have the number of rows of marbles you need in 3 feet. Now take the number of marbles in a 2 foot line, 38.4, and multiply it by the number of rows of marbles in three feet, 58.6, and you have the exact number of marbles you will have in a 6 square foot area. 38.4 times 58.6 equals 2,250.24 marbles.....exactly. Now get a few extras because in that many marbles you are bound to find a few that you just can't bare to put on a wall and will want to keep for yourself !!!! lol -
I see, and I will look. Thanks, Istmmrbls,..... What is the pic in the second row from the top third mib? And how rare are those? I have two of them but less white and more color. It is so hard to know which colors and marbles are rarer than others !!!!!

and I'm guessing that it has blue in it? Does anyone have a picture of one?

I want to show off my Akro agate silver oxblood 21/32 that has more oxblood that has doven...doven? dived?...dug itself?...under the translucent base than is on top of the marble. I think it is beautiful. Any opinions. Does one like this make it more rare? would it effect the value? Why don't you show off your own 'diving oxbloods' in the spirit of education so that beginners and the rest of us who are still learning after 25 years can continue the process. Thanks guys.

I do share your contempt for the person who offers $50 to the widow with the $2,000 mib. Even if the buyer is broke at the time, there are ways to share the profits with the lady where she gets a fair amount and the buyer gets a fair amount. Some people think that if the seller names the price it is alright to just keep their mouths shut about the actual value of the item and just pay and get out with the spoils. I just can't do that. I'm one that has to say.....this is what you have.....this is what its worth....and this is what I'll pay....

Before I got a good camera with macro capability, my pics of small items were usually fuzzy because I got too close and could not get the pic sharp due to the poor quality of the camera and lense I was using and I'm sure that there are many sellers who are just selling a few items and do not feel the need to invest, or don't have the funds to invest in the proper camera and lense for the job. When I see fuzzy pics and there is time I just make sure to email the owners about dings and damage to the mibs before I decide if I am going to bid on them. I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt until they prove to me otherwise.

Is Ebay a wholesale market? How many of you including myself have bought marbles on Ebay in order to resell them at shows,..... on your internet store?..... In your bricks and morter store?......or elsewhere? I have bought mibs on ebay many times and sold them for a profit many times what I have paid. What about you? I would like your opinion on this. Thanks so much

What do you think is a good price for a 11/16 and 5/8 ace versis a regular white based cork? Does the size difference make a difference in the price? Also, what is the price difference between a mint and a near mint for the same criteria? Your help is greatly appreciated as I have people interested in my marbles so I am asking your opinion. I want to be fair, but on the other hand, I don't want to be lo-balled either. Could you also help me with prices on prize name, onyx, and tri-color in the same measurements and conditions. Are there color combinations that are more desirable than others? Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. Please, if you are one of the two who have expressed interest in my mibs, do not answer this question for obvious reasons. Thanks so much for all of the help you guys give me. This site is the best on the net and the people here are awesome !!!!!.

Here are the corks that I do have yet. I don't have them individually photographed yet. Sorry. These are about 11/16 mostly...I think there is a 5/8 in the center of the first pic.

I have not had that much fun since the year I bought a 7 gallon glass jug full of marbles. I found 27 popeyes in that jug. I was just a beginner then and I'm sure that I missed lots and lots of good marbles.

I paid about $880 plus shipping for everything that I got. I have sold a lot already. Did you see my other showing of corks that I just listed? I have those available, at least 99% of them. I saw in your topic where you were wanting Indian Summer Jabos that you also buy corks.

Here are more from that same auction. I also got peewees, both patches and cateyes....lots of both, some clays and benningtons, some German handmades, some white ones with single pontil marks, and many many others that I still have not gone through yet. There were thousands of marbles.. I have sold quite a few already but I still have lots left. I have some great master ....you know...like akro sparklers...only master...? got some popeyes, including one hybrid.....pelts including Christmas trees, liberties and the ones with the black, red and white.

I'll be showing you lots of pictures of mibs from an auction last year. This is my first big marble purchase in about 10 years. I have always bought mibs but in lesser quantities.
