It is with a heavy heart that I inform the marble hobby of the passing of Bob Hutchisson (Ottawa, IL). For those of you that knew Bob, know how special of a person he was. Bob grew up and lived in Ottawa IL., and was one of the original marble collectors in the hobby. Bob specialized and collected comic marbles dating back 40+ years! He made his rounds thru the marble shows of the Midwest quite heavily the past 10 years. (Iowa, Canton, Kansas, Decatur and Wisconsin). Bob was an honorable man and a friend to many. So as you read this and move on with your day, please think of a memory you have of Bob, and even send up a prayer for his journey that lies ahead.

...as far as the "smiling or rolling in grave" is concerned. If today, Sellers Peltier could see what his marbles have turned into and what they have become in this hobby, I think we can all agree that it is certainly a wonder how he would react. Even Gino mentioned to me many times, laughing, "that if Sellers could see what we were doing, why he'd think we were all nuts"! So I took what Hansel said as something along those lines and not as being critical. Good night.

I rarely post to these chats, but I'm going to step in here, First of all, hats off to Sami and Mike (and Gino above) for the time spent working on this book. You guys did a great job and the end result proved a job well done. As we all know and have experienced, one of the problems with trying to communicate over email/text, etc., is that things can be taken out of context. I think that is what happened with Hansel's post. If anyone over the years has contributed and shared his collection with those in the hobby as it relates to writing books, who comes close? Go ahead, look at any of the books from the past and you will see Hansel's collection, page after page after page. So although we are all entitled to our opinions, lets keep things in perspective. Getting tied up in controversy like this is simply petty. After all, this is a hobby! I shared my collection in Sami's book...and i did it so the hobby could enjoy some of what I have, with the hope to show even more in the future. If i made a comment or suggestion, and then took a verbal lashing from so many in the hobby, do you really think for a minute I would even consider opening my door in the future? My humble suggestion is to move forward and use the energy for something positive and put this to rest....

There are a couple of gents in the hobby waiting to release books that will list these rare comics. A few people do know that these exist and have seen them. I'm not playing games not telling the names of these marbles but rather out of respect for the hard work put into the book(s). Yes Hoover(3 known)and worlds fair(1) and orange crush(1) are some, however there are 5 more. Franklin Roosevelt(confused with Hoover) American flag, spotted cow simply do not exist...contrary to what is said in previous books. If books are not released (soon) in a reasonable amount of time...already a year delay....I will reveal names of marbles and perhaps make sure they show up at one of the national show for people to see first hand.

I believe the rarest marbles that exist are some of the comic marbles stamped by Peltier. Obviously Tom Mix and Cotes are exceedingly rare marbles, however there are stamped marbles that exist that are even much rarer than those. These particular marbles are known to actually be one-of-one examples. Not sure it gets any rarer than that.
