Thank you Ann.
The second marble is a good example of what I was talking about. Try to imagine that marble without the yellow "skin" and you have one very close to your first marble.
thanks

Naked (no skin) onionskin with mica(?)

Unless they were dug I doubt very much they were sold by the company that advertised "The Most Perfectly Formed Marbles"
I would have to agree.
Now I can't say which company made them, but whoever did, they "appear" to be dug marbles.
thanks

Looks like a melted pontil from here, so I would say made in Ohio. To me, it's a very pretty mib. I call this type a snowflake (don't know if anyone else does). What size is it?
How do you get that backlight effect?
thanks.

Where does it say torched anywhere in this description Ronnie?
The marble also has a streak of orange in it but I think it may be from the torch.
Maybe this is what he is referring to?
thanks

Gnome; I believe the one you are showing is an Akro Carnelian. A Cornelian was Akro's attempt to copy M.F.C.'s American Cornelia (aka brick).
thanks
sorry, posting at the same time as Steph.
