  1. pokemon cards are $20/$30 a piece to get graded each right now.
  2. OK noted thank you! Is this one an akro? .62
  3. wow seriously? thats very cool. I have some experience with getting other stuff graded and it takes a long time/expensive.
  4. do you think my blue guy is a popeye or no?
  5. Yes monetary versus intrinsic value. As with most collectors markets, the pricing seems to be all over the place and, as you mentioned, condition is a huge factor. I haven't gotten there yet (Still stuck on the buttcracks lol) but are marbles "self-graded" or is there a standard 3rd party PSA grading?
  6. lol no that actually a super helpful ID tip- thank you kindly.
  7. oh and also is it an akro at least?
  8. ok noted thx! are popeyes better/rarer than regular corks?
  9. Happy to add more pics as needed--thanks in advance
  10. Thank you all! I thought of the German flag first too, but after closer inspection its blue rather than black. Was the black glass that was used to make marbles in Germany a true black or a very dark concentrated color (like L.E. Smith Glass's black amethyst)? My noob eyes see blue/white/red and green/yellow/red but it might just be how the colors are overlapping I suppose.
  11. Anyone have thoughts as to how old this one might be? Regardless of this one's provenance, it's a special one.
  12. OOOOOO will you take a picture next time you see it? If you think of it? I would love to see. Also are you familiar with Paden City glass at all (~1919-1951)?
  13. WOW now thats fascinating!!! Speaking of Heatherbloom---did anyone make any alexandrite/neodymium marbles? Also, did Heisey get into the marble game at all? (Besides the marbles made out of damaged pieces)
  14. Same way a Cambridge tea cup or plate stands out amongst its peers. Irreplicable! Alas most of my pieces of reference-able Cambridge glass are pink and I don't have any pink marbles...yet
  15. Originally $100 at an estate sale, but I picked it up for $30 on the final day (which still seems like a lot lol but I couldn't resist)
  16. oh wow ok so interesting thank you!!! My next question is if there are any colorways that are unique to a specific manufacturer? It seems like most every colorway I have seen has been done by at least 2 companies and I am having a surprisingly rough go of picking out the new from the old.
  17. Sorry for the poor photo but I believe the vase on the left is made of depleted uranium (post '56) while the two on the right are made of the good stuff (pre 1940) I wonder how the depleted uranium compares to other phosphor compounds in terms of vibrancy (wow factor 😎)
  18. awesomeness! I know there are contemporary marbles that glow in the dark, but I figured they would have been made with some other sort of phosphor dust rather than uranium. What is this middle guy's base color, pray tell? Thank you for sharing all of your wisdom!
