The two powder blue strands in my pics (one with flecks) are trade beads from Ghana. The chevrons are all Chinese and not true Venetian. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to afford true Venetian chevrons.
i've seen pictures of the german beads that do look a lot like marbles. Interesting to learn they are actually marble cane! Now I want them even more. But they are spendy!
Anyone else here into beads/African trade beads?
Here are pics of some of my collection. I love trade beads, chevron, bone and shell, furnace glass, millefiori, vaseline, Czech glass and more!
Thanks. I like patches too. I thought maybe there would be a cheat sheet somewhere online. I guess I’ll have to do it the old fashioned way by posting my terrible photography here. 🤣
Anyone know why marbleheads don’t use millimeters? Seems the easier form of measurement. I collect trade beads and they are all measured in millimeters by collectors.
Dang. I was going to go to harbor freight but went to ace instead. Seriously thought they were all the same. I’ll stop by harbor freight hopefully this week yet.
You would be surprised as to how many perennial actually survive our climate (I'm on the SE MN/SW WI border). I am in zone 4 and have tested several perennials beyond the growing zones and even have some zone 5 that come back each year (knock on wood). Did you know there are several different varieties of cacti that survive our winters? I believe I have about 15 different varieties in my yard with yellow, pink, peach and red flowers.
I am filling up my second gallon freezer bag and it's getting out of hand. I'd like to start unloading some soon. I know the hybrid cats eyes are collectible. Any others?
