  1. thanks dani .. a well known lady at the k.c. show had a bag, which i believe, held 5-7 marbles, as she described them .. as akro chocolate oxbloods. but these were also of the spiral pattern. all opaque bases .. all with the oxblood striping or patch. no uv mentioned .. nor transparency. i suppose the shading of the base could differ, but all that i've encountered have the color tone of the 1's pictured. h.t.f. marble .. bill

  2. well .. when i knocked the dirt off these .. i sure wanted to see them in the round. and leroy did just that. and fine examples of his abilities. i would like more. and because of punks and greed .. some type of mark is ok with me. trickery is everwhere, as was at a recent show. a beaut of an akro blue oxblood. .. har .. fully " torched" and hawked a original and vintage. gotta educate urself as much as you can, and hopefully, a heads-up from knowledgable people around you. .... bill

  3. Ron, beautifully said and yes, as the NEW info comes out we ALL have to take that in consideration and go with the flow when its all facts documentated and found. I want to add this one to the group as a coral type to and its pelt. Guy Gregg dug and found one under the foundation at Ottowa which i own now and it looks similiar to the other marble makers corals.

not at the same spot as guy's chuck ... but this is from ottawa also ... bill

  4. I have also been confused the last 14-15 years that i have been around marble collecting. Many say,i am still confused today,LOL. I had problems when i saw many marbles being sold as CAC,and that same week,i saw the same marbles coming from the dirt at one of the WV swirl marble factories. The marbles below are just one example of several. I still saw these with tags at shows, listed on ebay,as CAC even in 2010. Years ago they were sold as CAC and for $50.00-$75.00 each. But once they became Alley the price dropped to $20.00-$30.00,but it is still the same marble ? I am confused again ????? Even in March 2007 i noticed a noted CAC collector,Kokoken bid on one of these on ebay listed as CAC. I contacted him(i still have the email)and give him the Alley info. He said that it was one of his favorite CACs. He managed to get a few from me at a much lower price, than the CAC price. We have to saty informed and be willing to change. Collecting machine made marbles is young compared to most collectibles. Not all the older information was correct and some of todays information may not be correct. We use what we have at the time, but that information could change or be updated tommorow. We have to stay informed, there are many ways to do it. If we do not,we can only blame ourselves. Apply the same questions as for other items, why, how, what is the proof, etc? Then decide for yourself, but be willing to change.

  5. Amazing! Just F-N AMAZING! Here is a post by Smitty on Dec 31, 2005. I like this part: I had not seen them before and have yet to see one that did not originate from this group.

I'll try to tell the story without writing a novel. Several years ago, on ebay a seller from N.J. was offering a group of 5 unusual Peltiers, which is what I collect, if I remember it correctly, I didn't get the first group. Then they sold another group, which I won. Then they put on another group! Which I also won.I politely asked them how many groups they were going to be selling and since I was the high bidder on 2 of the groups, "how much if I bought the rest?" They sent me a list of the remaining Peltiers and a price. It wasn't cheap, in fact, there was no way I could afford it even though it was reasonable. So I turned them over to a well known collector friend of mine who lives in Eastern PA (H.D.) and he drove over and purchased them.

The seller explained that they were all in one large jar out of an estate. There was an unusual version of the Liberty, a version of the Christmas Tree, a white base with purple and yellow (lemon and plum), a clear mustard and ketchup (and Mayo) and a white base with orange, lemon, lime stripes.....THE CITRUS. There were not an even number of the different types, very few lemon and plum and liberty, so the sets of 5 were sold very quickly. The largest quantity was of the Citrus, which was o.k. because they were my favorite, I had not seen them before and have yet to see one that did not originate from this group. I believe them to be experimental or a very short run!

We had to put a set price on the marbles in order to make a profit and keep the few we wanted. It was my job to sell them. I still have some Citrus for sale and a few of the clear k&m. I guess that's it in a large nutshell!

This story unfolds and no one questions the validity. But the "EXOTICS" get dragged through the mud even after 90+ percent of the experts in cac's claim their real. Are we foolish to trust amyone?

I get a big ol'smile when I think.........what if the exotics had this for it's origin?

    juicyfruit!
