Marble--On!!
I don’t know I’m still struggling with the lines and swirls. 🤷♀️ some look so similar but then they don’t. It’s maddening!

Thanks everyone I’m still trying to learn. Unfortunately it may take time as I discovered not a soul in central Pennsylvania to learn from. So for now it’s all internet and books.

I think it is an old Marble King patch and ribbon with less common colors.
These little buggers make my head hurt trying to identify them. LOL

I was trying to add photos to my page. I can’t figure out how to do it. I THOUGHT oh maybe you have to add through gallery. That’s a hard NO I might add 😳 so I now have 500 pics in the gallery and some for the love I hadn’t cropped. (That was a whole different episode) 🙄 If I delete the whole gallery thing I have how do I add those to my own personal page? (I was an 80’s kid this tech stuff kills me at times)

Is it possible there is damage obscuring the other pontil, which should be pretty much opposite the one you can see? It sort of looks that way to me.
You are correct I cleaned it. 100% has damage I can feel it more now.

Probably it looks chipped it doesn’t feel super bad though. I love glass I collect glass and this little marble feels like very good quality glass in reality I can only feel one actual chip. Maybe I will give it a good scrub it might just be dirty. I’m pretty sure that’s one I came across in the dirt.

There are some hand-gathered marbles that only have one pontil - they are fully hand-made, no machine involved. Some people might call the single cut-off on a transitional marble a "pontil" too - I am not usually one of them. 😉
Haha I don’t know enough to call it anything really. I glad to finally be learning a little though.

I mean on the German one. I have one of those lattice looking ones and you can see the 2 spots. I have 2 of the green German ones the one I shared pictures of and a second one that looks to be in rougher shape but I only see one spot on it. I can share pictures with you. Maybe you be able to see what I can’t.
On this one you can clearly tell it hand made but I can’t see a top spot only a bottom. Maybe it was smoothed over better? Thank you for explaining that as well I literally feel kinda dumb about the marbles now. How I have been so infatuated with them for so long and I never really had the time to learn more about them. I’m a little embarrassed to be so clueless. This one has a much prettier green.

The rest of the marbles that you show are macine made.
They came out of a large furnace containing the same glass, were cutoff by a machine and rounded by a machine.
The "Chalkey" that you show would have been picked out and disgarded by quality control--some were no doubt missed.
It has been observed that this may have been a result of being buried over the years and a result of that--who really knows?\
All Marbles have two cutoff points. Some may look like pontils--but pontils are a handmade term only.

No I saw it in the picture also it’s feels smooth. Like some of the marbles I have that have weird spots similar to this I can feel or catch with my finger nail. I don’t feel this one. To just look at it you can’t even see it.

Nice marble this one!!
Marble--On!!
So I have a question the other one I have I really don’t think has mica. I can’t really tell but it appears to only have one pontil spot. Which I’m assuming would mean it’s the first from the rod? Does that make a difference?

I will comment on the first image and the last one as well in the OP.
The first is a nice corkscrew and the last one qualifies as a-----
Agreed.
Nice find--it may have been found in a bag of sold/marketed marbles vs one from a dig.
Very cool find!
Marble--On!!
I appreciate all the information and kindness from everyone. I have always just been drawn to the old marbles. I just grab jars when I go to estate sales or antique stores. I haven’t participated in online sales or purchased expensive individual ones. I love finding them in the ground most. I have never paid a lot of attention until recently. This group is just one of the best I have found.

I think that's a machine-made marble that got spun - hard to tell who made it though. It happened from time to time.
Thank you!

It does glow super bright I could use that bugger light a night light.. more pics of the orange one. I have a few that are almost identical to it just different colors. Thank you for the info. I have been non stop trying to figure these out😂 people in this house are starting to get annoyed.

I think #1 (Lazy Cork/Patch), #4 (Auger Corkscrew), #5 (Patch) are Akro, I don't see mica in #2. I agree #3 is Master (Brushed Patch). #6 is hard to tell without more views. #7 looks like a Ravenswood and #8 looks like a weak Alley Chalky to me.
The white line in the one you call chalky had me. So weird I can feel it. I had no clue thank you

I appreciate all the knowledge from everyone…. I think I’m making progress with identifying at least some by company…. 🤷♀️maybe anyway!
