ziggyzora Posted February 13, 2012 Report Share Posted February 13, 2012 Nice find, the marbles in the top pic are original to the set, approx 1". I believe made in 1960 give or take a few years. The board can come with a blue, green or red base and a random color mix of the marbles, orange was also in the basic colors. In the UK the marbles were called 'spiders' by kids in the 1970's but 'wire pull' seems to be the term adopted nowadays. Although the set is marked "made in England" the marbles are German, ironically as the Gibson premises were destroyed during the blitz in 1940 and had to rebuild from scratch after the war.
