Where the molten glass was not quite hot enough to allow the marble to be fully smoothed out on its trip down the rollers. The rollers are where machine-made marbles get rounded after the molten marble is released from the furnace. As to manufacturer I am leaning toward Jabo in Reno, Ohio.
