The Nickel Guy Posted yesterday at 12:13 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 12:13 AM I watch videos and some collectors and dealers that will pick up a marble and look it over. They may even comment on how neat it is or say "that's a good one" and toss it back to where it was. Then the plinking sound of glass hitting glass. People rattling jars or bags of marbles to see what's in there. Of course there are those who are more mindful and careful and place them back carefully. I try to treat them like eggs I guess. Maybe marbles can take a bit of minor abuse and not get a scratch or chip, I don't know? When they make and package them they do take a beating and roll to dive into steel drum containers one after another while hot. They get shoveled and scooped, boxed and tossed onto trucks. So what is the answer? Is it OK to just let a marble fall on a table or floor or onto other marbles in a jar? It makes me think of this when I hear them banging together. Thanks for your input here and for taking the time to read. 1
Wolf Posted yesterday at 01:18 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 01:18 AM I take no chances. Treat them like an unused hand grenade.

I will always look at marbles over a carpet or a bath towel, I drop them all the time--yes, I am a "clod" when it comes to handling marbles. I drop them all of the time. I just found my little buddy Obi ( a Pug) chewing on one that I lost a few weeks ago--Good boy!--no damage done. Glass to glass does not matter much if it is gentle--as in a jar of them. Marble--On!!
