Hi Pete & Felicia & folks. Thanks for the PM's - replies are on their way! Sorry I haven't been around much. Got a new job which is filling most of my time and the mibs have had to take a back seat. To be honest, I managed to stock up on some great finds, including my most wanted blue latticino core!! so I've been sitting here staring at a few boards full of new stuff... Wow. Nice set of candies there Joe! I also like it when handmades get some of the limelight...as if I don't already spend far too much time staring at these little glass balls And Felicia, I agree that "Tiffany Windows" sounds best. These ones make me think of candy..., although they're maybe more like a 'Willy Wonka' kind! and they make me realise how much I love this hobby too!

Nice looker isn't it. What do you call that kind of core - is it some kind of translucent ribbon?

Hi Tim. I think they're great photos too. I find it especially difficult with the latticinos because you want to get the detail of the outer bands & get all the crisp detail of the inner core strands. Getting the lighting just right is the hardest for me...still practising :doh: but I find an all white or all grey background helps Nice marbles too!

Yes, tried HOM and lots of others, including all kinds of searches on Google etc etc. All lead back to the USA... Not a problem - I was born in Buchanan, West Virginia (and still have a US passport) so will just have to come over for the shows over in the States! LOL.

Yeah, I read that & looked around the Museum site too - thanks Felicia This all started for me only a few months ago when I wanted to track down some of these swirls for a present to give my brother... When we were both at school (too many years ago now!) we played a variation of marbles & these swirls were sooooooo valuable to us & the other kids. If you had some swirls (or Spirals as we called them then), it transcended you from a snotty-nosed kid to a superhero. Funny how life does a full circle sometimes, eh!

Thanks for this link Felicia! Very kind of you to think of me. I may well take a trip down to this competition...you never know, there could be some collectors lurking in a dark corner somewhere!? I'll keep hunting for a club/show/collector's association over here & will update the forum on my findings. There may be other Brits on here who feel the same? Thanks again Chris

Hi. I wonder if you guys can help me with these clays? I bought a load of vintage german swirls from a guy here in England and these clays turned up in the lot. Personally I'm not into clays much, swirls are more my thing! I don't think he was a collector - he didn't tell me they'd turned up at a site in Atlanta so that's a start!! I will probably want to sell them too, since they don't really feature in my collection so if anyone has an idea of 'guesstimate' value, that would be really great. I know all the stuff that's been happening with clays, so if they aren't worth much, so be it. The swirls were lovely! Here are the photos - I hope they're OK? The Helix on the left is between 1" to 1 & 1/8th", the coil with leaves is 1", the Pinwheel is 3/4" and the Jasper on the right is just over 5/8" Thanks in advance, and I just wanted to say again how great this site is, especially coming from the UK where collectors are in short supply!
