I'm doing an educational program for youngsters, and the theme is Civil war. I have a munch of clays, but was curious about the use among early Americans.

Does anyone know if marbles were carried or played with or had any uses during civil war times. I know children played with them, but is there any evidence of soldiers carrying or playing with them. If anyone could direct me to a good resource, that would be amazing!

how did you begin to do this yourself? Your work looks amazing. I'm a young collector and have many years a head of me. I would love to learn what the tools of your trade are and the type of initial investment you put into reconditioning materials/tools.
