  1. OK Nancy, are you the one who can get a Marbles Madness Magazine off and running? (I just gave you the free title of it there)

I see a magazine for almost everything imaginable, I wonder why no Marbles collector mag yet.

    Just for fun:

Can anyone think of a neat title for a Marbles mag?

I might be...cool name....thinking about others....With all the amazing photos, little known history, and personal stories ....I think it could be awesome. Almost everyone has owned or played with marbles but how many of us have paid any attention to them? I know I didn't, but have caught the bug.....

  2. Alan's got a few towards the center of his picture, and there's one in the top row of Dan's. I think a lot of collectors call it light blue, sometimes aqua. I work a lot with colors, though, so I can say with absolute confidence that the glass is actually cyan. Yup.

I can never get a good picture of cyan slags. I have some excellent ones, but no matter how hard I try, they always end up as just a blue smudge. I have some cyan swirls of completely unknown origin that I'd like to have IDed too, but I just can't catch any.

I planned on grabbing some pics of my slags, what with them being the pride of my collection (I have low standards), but I had to leave home earlier than expected today, and won't be back in a week. Such is life. Just hang in there, though; when I get back, I will astound you all with my amazing collection of cyan smudges!

And Jeepers, that cup is amazing. I want it too. Maybe Nancy and I could play a game of marbles for it? :P

  3. Oh yah, cyan slag prices are gonna go through the roof. My buying habits are really going to shrink the pool. *Pulls $12.63 out of his wallet* How many will this get me? Mint condition only.

Only looking for all Cyan Slag marbles from the world? I bet there are some pretty stellar inter-galactic stones to be had!! Do you have a picture of a cyan slag marble. I'm never sure what one means by cyan (aqua, teal, greenish blue, bluish green, sea green.........)Nancy

    Close to this color?

  4. I have a friend whose dad would like to sell his dad's marbles and they are bringing them to me to help them. (I talk too much so everyone knows I'm obsessing over marbles right now). I think I see one Hand made German ribbon marble near the topish left but haven't seen the marbles yet.... I expect you all will be hearing from me next week.. B) ) .Nancy

  5. I'm not sure if this is the right place to start this but,....I'd love to see any pictures of slag marbles for me to learn from. I keep finding information here that some how has escaped me to date. I hate when that happens...Thanks in advance for sharing any pictures....Nancy

(My damn U key sticks! I guess it's back to "Dragon Speak" for me)

PS...Could a slag marble look like this...with the white swirls inside the green glass? This is another marble just dug up at that dump. Nancy

  6. I was wondering if you could tell me anything about these three cat's eyes. I think a lot of them look interesting. The first one is a tiny marble and looks brown from a distance but has a dark red stripe down the middle of the (one or two? vanes. The other two just look different to me.

  7. Now you really are going to think I am a nut! The middle picture of the black marble with colored spots. Just stare into the middle of the marble. I see two old men standing together with hats on and long black coats with white pants. There is scary things in there too! Man, I sure hope someone else see's something. I have to face Galen in Vegas.

But did you see the polar bear and also the panda? I think I'll go look at them a little longer!...nancy

    And I WANT THIS too!!

Do you have any other good fire-damaged marble photos? Or water exposed marbles? I know someone has posted shipwreck marbles before. Also I think it would be good to have aquarium marble photos or beach marble photos on tap if anyone can dig some of those up. Or marbles which look different from having been buried.

    Thanks.

p.s., yes, Nancy's melted marble from the gallery inspired this. :)
