  1. I think the key is Barry Pink, who represented Peltier marbles before he started Marble King. That representation is what led to Sellers Peltier investing in the St. Mary's location. Ed
  2. Here are two additional names "Cherise Agates" This name was used by the company for a red slag marble. Cherise is French for cherry. The agates are cherry red with feathered white swirled in. These seem to be very rare, and older. "Champion Jr." This is a case of a confused identification. I do not know where the confusion began, but the marble that Block shows is not correct. This name refers to the quantity of marbles in a marble bag. Champion Jr. -25 marbles. There must have been a Champion bag with 50 or 100 marbles. A bag of cats-eyes surfaced a few years ago with the Champion Jr. logo attached. This bag had never been opened. Ed
  3. I caught a 22 inch long Channel Catfish from one of the Illinois River silica sand areas not far from Ottawa last week. Put up one H..L of a fight. Ed
  4. I have both types of marbles. Oh, that's right, I bought the Pearlized Peerless Patch from you:) I found the other marble at an antique shop and it was mixed in with bags that also contained other colors. Because it was included with others that are Whities, and it has construction that is the same, I consider it a Whitie also. I left a number of the non-pearlized ones behind and Tankgirl found them sometime during the following week. Lucky I got there first. Ed

    CA cullet

I purchased an exotic from Les three years ago at the Madison WI show. The colors are like the yellow/red/black on pages 119 and 124 of Collecting Early Machine-made Marbles. I purchased at the time the debate was raging and asked Les if my marble had come from the sewer excavation in Cambridge. He said it came from the estate of a long time collector and was legitimate. I have no reason not to believe the marble is legitimate. BUT, I'm a former US Treasury Agent and often did early stage investigations prior to turning the information over to the FBI. I learned to look at events, not just what I am told. Les stopped bringing CA's to the two shows I normally attend, Madison and Ottowa, after my purchase. It appeared that as the debate got hotter Les backed off of CA's. I purchased other types of CA's from him prior to the exotic purchase and they are easy to identify. Did any others of you notice that Les was not selling CA exotics at say Columbus or Amana the last couple of years? Personally, I never bought into the exotic marbles, and since there are other manufacturers with great marbles I just put my money somewhere else.
