  1. I want more bubbly champagne Rainbos!!! Thanks for the photos, everyone
  2. ...marbles This is the sum total of my collection. Well, at least it's a patriotic group. I'd love to see some more.
  3. It's really not noticeably out of round except for the flat spots (top, left photo), and that is the side of the marble that appears to be shrunken, so there is lots of extra glass there.
  4. The person I bought the Onionskin from swears up and down that it has never been worked on, to his knowledge. He says it has been in the family for at least 60 years. I guess I believe him, since I have no reason not to.
  5. By "stone polisher" do you mean a rock tumbler? What is a rock tumbler, and why would anyone do that to a marble, especially one like this?? Whoever did that to this marble ought to be arrested! Here are a couple Onionskins that Marblealan recently sold, and he called them "lobed". They don't have deep lobes, but they have lots of shallow lobes, so maybe my beat-up onion is lobed after all...? Lobed Onion Lobed Onion #2 Attached is another huge 2-1/4" Onionskin that I recently bought, repaired by reheating. I think whoever did the repair job did fantastic work! It even has the pontils. I want my beat-up one to end up looking just like this one The color at the pontils on the beat Onion is very shallow, and is right at the surface with practically no glass to spare for polishing. So maybe reheating would be the best option...?
  6. I'm not sure if it's lobed. I was kinda hoping some expert would give me all those kinds of details
  7. If it could be repaired without ruining it, I would keep it. If not, I would sell it. I don't see how it could be polished without making the marble even more out of round, or, worse yet, leaving it with pointed or opened-up ends.
  8. I just can't decide what to do about this big Onion that I recently bought. It's about 2-3/16" diameter, and out of round by about 1/16". It is literally covered with scratches and pits, and I'm not sure how much of them are as-made. It has what looks like a bubble pop crater, and several small flakes and circular hits (or something). Also two side-by-side flat spots. Naturally, the surface is dulled by all this. There is very little glass to spare at the pontils, and polishing would likely open up the ends, thus ruining the marble, in my opinion. So what about reheating? What would that do to the value? And what is the value, if left as is? Thanks for any comments.
  9. sounds like somebody's celibrating new years a little early
  10. I interpret PlanB's post as meaning that any recent runs of MK Spidermans couldn't be mistaken for vintage because they wouldn't have oxblood in them... My original question was this: Why have vintage MK Spiderman Oxblood prices fallen? I wasn't asking about any new runs of MKs. Galen has answered my question.
  11. I don't think any of the MKs in the links in this thread are of new runs. If somebody has a new one, maybe they can post a picture of it.
  12. So then they are all "real ones"...it just matters who's selling it, and the condition...?
  13. Ok, why did it go for $92, and some of the others for less than $20? Without spending too much time on it, the only difference I notice is a slight greenish tint next to the blue, in marblealan's MK.
  14. Some links to recent MK Spiderman Oxbloods: #1 #2 #3 This one's been listed for several weeks, with no takers No ox on this one, but still... #6 No ox and NM+...but still... #8 Even Marblealan's not getting much for MKs #10 No ox...still... #12 Even crazy ol' leonel is getting them for nothing...
  15. Why has the bottom fallen out? Spiderman Oxbloods used to go for $50 to $100, easily. Now you're luck to get $20 or so, even Mint ones.
  16. I could never understand why Catseyes are despised by some collectors. The first marble I ever bought from Marblealan, back in March '05 (I think) were two multicolor Vitro Catseye shooters, one of them is my eBay avatar. I'm glad Larry wrote a book about them, though I haven't read the book...yet.
  17. Kevin, f you want the first marble, you can have it for $20.50 (what I paid for it) + shipping. Flip-flop is the way the colors in the ribbons on a Peltier alternate from one side of the marble to the other, first one color is on top, then it's on the bottom (or something like that). Boy, I can remember when I asked that very same question...seems like a long time ago.
  18. The second one I posted has a translucent base. I think it's a Citrus. The first one I'm not going to say is a Citrus, or even a Pelt. I got "confirmations" on these from someone who's opinions I value (not that I don't value others' opinions).
  19. Could you post pictures of it? Is this one a Citrus? (I have an opinion on this one: I think it's a Citrus)
  20. What is my conclusion...well, let's see...since you put it that way...I guess I haven't come to a conclusion after all... What do you think it is?
  21. Well then, I guess that pretty much settles it. What threw me was all the little dimples in the glass, just like Pelts, and the bubbles, just like Pelts, plus the colors look similar to another Citrus I have (that really is a Citrus...I think). Thanks, everyone
  22. What about the flip-flop thing? Does mine have that? I'm not sure.
