Slightly New Species of Deer
akroorka replied to rockgardenplants's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Yes--for sure! I got lost in the one that I posted for a few hours trying to figure out what I was seeing and trying to get a good image. Both were fails but it sure was fun. I lost all concept of the world around me and relieved a whole lot of that stuff that will kill you--stress. I just love this stuff! Marble--On!! -
Rare marbles listed tonight and more coming
akroorka replied to rockgardenplants's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I have shown two images that I think confirm that this one is not polished. The first shows what you should look for in a polished marble. White stuff in tiny holes that have sharp edges, it would be the remnants of polishing compound that is very hard to clean out after the polishing job is done. It would be deposited in polished out bubbles or hit marks. Yours appears to be a natural occurrence—notice the dark ring around it. Perhaps some imbedded debris. The second shows a “dimple”. A dimple will not survive a polish without it having sharper edges. This one shows it in the glare of your lighting—but I think that it is true. The patterns on polished machine made marbles is always thrown off a bit—much like yours vs a regular CAC of this type. I would call this one a very nice—almost mint finish on a weirdly patterned CAC Swirl. Did you grease up this marble? It has a very wet finish to it. Nice marble—nice size—great find! Marble—On!! -
It is a Marble King marble. I would call it a washed out "Bengal Tiger". Some others may have a more definate description and I look forward to seeing them. Marble--On!!

Not all oxblood is from Akro even when it looks like Akro?
akroorka replied to rockgardenplants's topic in Marble I.D.'s
There are Akro Christmas Trees with this color green and a few Akro oxblood patches as well. I do not think that it is an Akro though. I will lean towards Alley here—nice marble regardless of the ID. These ox on white swirls can be hard for sure. Marble—On!! -
Slightly New Species of Deer

I have some shots of one like it but I could swear that the buried color is oxblood. I have seen two like this in hand. 3/4" as I recall. Marble--On!! -

Post some images of the different sides. No dust-clean it well before taking the images. It was my first reaction as well. Marble--On!! -
It could appear that way--just less glass to shine light through is my opinion. Marble--On!!

Nice marble Tommy! Marble--On!!

I would sort this one as an Akro. I appreciate all opinions, maybe we will see some more. Marble--On!!

Nice Job Mojo, They all ran for me but I am old fashioned geek running Windows 11 on a PC. Marble--On!!

I agree with Al. Put these in a pretty jar and sell them at a rummage sale and ask $30 then be surprised. They will be scooped up. Marble-On!!

Very early in my collecting craze I would toss these into a bucket along with the cat-eyes from overseas and a great majority of Marble Kings. Just another Vitro I would say to myself—into the bucket. I do know my Vitro today—the names elude me yet and I have to do research to name them. I was then and will always be a collector of Akro corks—I wonder----how many Vitro marbles that I have tossed aside. I always kept the Pelts that were mint but “now-a-days” does that really matter? I may have to dump some buckets and get into it a bit more. Thanks Ric! Marble—On!!

The left one is probably an Akro Agate patch--I think that rather than reversing the cutline’s you just turned it upside down—the other side will tell for sure. Yes I look-----maybe too much! The one on the right looks like a Jabo "Classic"to me. The middle one may be a Vacor “Yellow Jacket” they came in a variety of colors. It maybe a Vacor “Red Devil”, Vacor markets marbles under different names around the world and also in mixed groups with a variety of names. @Melissa has the dibs on these Vacors and I alway appreciate her input. @Mojo is also a great one to ask for a Vacor ID. Mojo is a collector from overseas and see's what we may not here in the USA Marble—On!!

Me too--although I have never seen one like this before. I worked this one on my photo editor and the red looks more like Pelt than Kokomo imho. The debris is very cool and---well no help there. Marble--On!! It may not be a bag or net thing Steph--it may be one of many but---not that many. I agree wit the Pelt ID

Nice marble! It screams MK to me. Marble--On!!

That jar has me drooling. It is all in the eye that beholds them. The CAC that you posted are all pretty nice finds and believe it or not--the money shot on that yellow/green swirl has me looking at it more than the others. Marbles like this may the veggie side dish of CAC types but they can get pretty wild too. Luv it! Do not drop the jar. It has a few more treasures for sure. Marble--On!!

I am OK with #5 being Akro. The "lemonaide" looks like a patch that swirled--not a corkscrew imho. Charlie may be right on with the Pelt ID--it should glow--very brightly. Nice group for sure. Marble--On!!

Cool marble for sure. The "Germans" that I am used to seeing are lighter green. This may be the first Master slag that I have seen, and I agree with the slag ID. I am so used to calling them "patch types". I agree with the Master ID. Marble--On!!

#200 tin box. I scan the top and include an image inside the top. The "Flintie" shooters are the hardest to find imho. Marble--On!!

Good eye Melissa, I may have had too much pollen in my system yesterday🤪. It could also be a Master Made Marble--"Meteor"? These are difficult to tell apart-- for me at least. Marble--On!!

Vacors are world wide--many different names though for the same marble. They are an ancient company. Marble--On!!
