I absolutely love the bowls and dishes, and that mortar and pestle is sooooo unique!!!!!!

i have a local antique shop with some beautiful depression pieces, I can just never bring myself to splurge with littles (I'd be so scared they break it lol)

I hate poachers. I was a Park Range and we tracked down 2 of them. It was awesome when we arrested them. No mercy🔥

Yes agreed no mercy for sure ... This twit shot the eagle and left him for dead right where he shot him it made no sense....

Poachers give hunters a horrible name...

We had a guy not local to me but on the state who would outside of deer season see deer and just shoot out of his truck .. he was eventually cought ... I don't understand it 🤷🏻‍♀️ I am half Shoshone so in my culture to kill just to kill is pure evil.

Yes …..sorting….. that’s the fun part…..I start by looking for the real good ones peltsnl akro Popeyes or better, cac, Germans hm…. Than take out clearies, opaque, cat eyes, white single color swirls, than Rainbos marble kings than patches than colored base swirls multi color swirls that’s the start……..than you can go which ever wat you want…. You may want to sort you cat eyes . Try to identify maker . the swirl are always the hardest than patches…..etc ….. but a must is to have fun relaxing time stress free time with your hobbie… people may look at you wierd (like my wife) or geek you but who cares. I have huge boxes full of marble I’m saving for when I retire. I have put some high quality marbles in little bage than into a box than in storage. The key is to forget what you have than you can relive the excitement of finding them all over again>>>>>

    Great idea!!!

I do not have enough to do most of that but I am so enjoying looking at them all :) finding more has become a smidge difficult. I hope to trade or purchase locally... I live in a very old area and they see. To be prevalent it's just a matter of finding them (which is sort of half the fun) the only newer sort of ones I do adore or the das/jabo ...  Love the idea of storing some away... Maybe I'll do that with some of the auctions I attend. For winter times... (And my husband definitely thinks I'm weird lol) I spend hours reading our old threads, looking at my marbles lol it's my relax time in the evening after I put the kiddos to bed... I also really enjoy this group and trying to get to know everyone... :) Best wishes A.R.

  4. Wow!!!! We have a lot of coyotes and some wolves... I've been out to set lots of traps but never caught anything in action (I don't have cams) this so super cool..  we had a bald eagle close 😕 someone shot it.. it's been sort of an ongoing investigation... I love hawks !!!

About 150 years for the oldest ones I can think of.  Those would be math textbooks or something more literary.  It's possible though that I have German books which are older.  Would need to see.  I lost some of my best math books in a basement water incident.  That loss helped me become more prepared to part with more.

    What is your 200-year-old title?

I wish I had that strength to part with things... I'm definitely not a hoarder but I do collect a lot of things. IMG_20230804_112323.thumb.jpg.5e467a2bd11a208a68023fd5c7f30ede.jpgIMG_20230804_112326.thumb.jpg.6b45761e3cf8ec062e29cbfdd40a051b.jpgIMG_20230804_112336.thumb.jpg.6ffe09a38e4464a727973b7837985a0c.jpg

Well I've been collecting longer than I care to remember. And there's collectors on this board with amazing marbles we never see in the UK!!! Keep looking for those Germans...........

🙃Haha I hope that I can say that one day..  what kinda marbles don't you see? Out of curiosity? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don't have a crazy amount but I am happy to send you whatever extras I have of what you wish you could get there. No cost to you, no trades it's just sometimes nice to get something cool in the mail hehe 😁 just because.

I have lots of friends I've made over the years in Germany/UK hehe I think I might ask them to peak for me with giving them a fun finders fee :). We are always sending packages with fun trades (mostly snacks, candy/antiques & crystals lol but hey marbles are sort of like candy for the eyes lol 😆

WVMCC is not just about WV swirls but all marble collecting.  Sure, they are in WV and the shows are there but they encompass all marbles.  They have a newsletter (maybe 3-4 times per year).  Their dues are reasonable and it is a way of continuing and preserving marble collecting.  The Texas Marble Club is active and they have a couple shows per year as well as a newsletter.  The Indiana Club is active with a couple shows.  IAMC is on the West coast with a couple shows per year (one coming up in Reno in October).  And, as Alan mentioned, the 2-3 days before the show day is the best time to come and learn, meet other collectors, visit, buy, sell and trade.  It is a great time to see all kinds of marbles and get helping in ID'ing some of the ?'s marbles that you have.

I must have read that wrong. Thank you for the correction.

I definitely think I am going to be looking into shows and some traveling. I will keep WV Club in mind they are only about 2.5 hours away from me. Thank you Al for the extra information ☺️

I paid around £10 or less in the UK so very hard pass. They are very easy to find over here. Good luck finding them ' it is cool to display German marbles in glassware of the same era!

Wow that's lok $13 USD that's amazing!!! I bet you have a beautiful collection

I will also say I've been spending A LOT of my time recently in "Steph's Study Hall" it's helping immensely and may help you too... The amount of photos and information there is sort of invaluable. If you're like me the goal is to be able to identify on my own one day :)

    anywho have a blessed day

Opinion (and no slight to any surviving marble clubs):

I think marble clubs waned ~2 decades ago.  If you are in OH/PA - you are not far from big Ohio and WV marble shows.  As a veteran of marble shows for a long time, I think you can learn more, see more, meet far, far more knowledgeable people, handle more marbles and learn the glass faster than any three clubs could ever offer. A day of hands-on experience at a big show is worth 100 times more than a years worth of experience at a marble club.  The diversity of material, condition and knowledge is incredible and you visit the rooms.  \

Footnote:  The days (and nights) BEFORE the show is where you really learn.  Not the day of the show.

☺️Thank you so much for this advice, you definitely sound like a veteran at this. I will for sure take your advice and start looking🔍👀 for marble shows  😎

  12. Is anyone here apart of the WV Marble Club? Or any marble Club?

I'm looking to see what to expect. I'm hoping to just meet fun people who love the same thing and gain further knowledge. I know WV is only WV made marbles, so I'm curious if there are any others out there not listed for say OHIO PA etc

    🙃😉
