marble novice
First things first ... Welcome, Bob. I'm pretty new to all this as well. Not long ago, Steph directed me to this site, which I've found to be pretty helpful when it comes to descriptive terms. http://www.marblealan.com/FAQ.htm Looks like cold rolls occur with both hand- and machine-made marbles. Steph
Hi Bob. The molten glass is usually hot enough as it drips onto the rollers for it to be smoothly rounded. Sometimes as hot as it is, it's not hot enough for all of the wrinkles to be smoothed out. That's when we get "cold rolls". IIUC!
I'llhavethat1
The term gets used between hand made and machine made marbles and sometimes referred to as more of a "tooling mark" on a handmade marble but the general idea can apply to both
