Jose
How can I tell American from modern asian or Mexican when it comes to cat eyes? Love those colors.
Steph
Can't give a rule of thumb. If you have four-vane marbles, then most likely American or early Japanese. And early Japanese ones are nice.
Jose
That does help, Thanks Steph. Do you happen to have a pic of a Japanese one?
Steph
Might be a good time to make a new thread, but here's an old thread with various examples of both Japanese and American.https://marbleconnection.com/topic/7184-japanese-cats-eye

Jose
More American-made cat's eyes. These are from C. E. Bogard & Sons. A "Mountaineer Shooters" package. Ok so I do have some of these in black. Learned something today.
Jose
This one is smaller in size about 1/2 inch but with 4 vanes.

But I can't rule out Marble King. Also, I can't tell if I'm seeing tint in the base glass or if that's color coming through from the colors on your background surface. If the base is tinted, that complicates matters.
Jose
I believe the black ones have 3 vanes, Chucks.
Steph
Three vanes is foreign. Three vanes with coke bottle tint base glass is relatively modern. Probably Asian. (Black is still cool.)
