Quote Whitney Lapic of Shillington won the women's division of the US Marbles Championship on Sunday in Cumberland, Md. Her win, on the 25th anniversary of the tournament, came just four months after she won the British and World Marbles Tournament in England. With Lapic, 23, was her mother, Debra Stanley Lapic, 60, winner of the first US Marbles Championship in 1994. The two posed with a large trophy bearing both of their names. It's known as the Mason Cup, in honor of C. Eugene Mason, the longtime director of the National Marbles Championship held in Wildwood, N.J.
