( My first ex) he was a professor of geology, hired by my grandfather in 1948. Taught himself to play the piano and accordion while in a TB sanatorium. Also learned Russian, translating many Russian geology books into English. he played the piano at concert level but refused to play if anyone was listening. I had to hide outside to hear him play.
