  1. It looks like it works!! So simple when you have good guidance - thanks Steph and Galen. I'll wait till morning when I'm fresh and play with it some more. Nancy

  3. Steph: If I am asked to "post a link" to an ebay listing - is there a tutorial somewhere in this Forum for doing it? I know I've posted things that you've turned into a link and I think I should attempt it myself if there are directions. Thanks, Nancy
  4. Thank You Ladies - I had to take time out to attend an auction. I guess these are about ready for eBay now that I've got the ID for sure. I appreciate your help. Nancy
  5. I have two 1" marbles with similar coloring. I have called them Oxblood Patches. Is that correct or do they have some other name? And, were they made by Akro? Thank, Nancy [
  6. Thanks for your help - Great Pictures! Nancy
  7. Can I rightfully call these Vitro Whities? I was rather surprised when I got 8 or ten at one time and thought I'd better check. I know the green looks like the kind with aventurine but couldn't see any in this one. And the light blue I hadn't seen before. What do you think? Thanks, Nancy
  8. Two and one-quarter inches. (2 1/4") !! Nancy
  9. Well then, I guess I won't bother putting it up for sale. I guess I've never looked at Cat's Eyes that closely. I don't mind keeping it around anyway. (is there an emoticon for Sour grapes?) lol Nancy
  10. A new day and a new appreciation of the expertise on this forum. Of course it's a fracture! Not that I understand it - but I can see it. But it if people can make "turkeys" out of what they see in a marble, I reserve the right to see a tiny green bow tied with tinsel. . I wonder if a fractured Cat's Eye would sell? I may find out. Thanks for your answers. And, Yes, Steph I'm still well and putting in my 15th year on eBay. Not working too hard at it but it gives me an excuse to attend fleas, garage sales and auction. Ain't life great! Nancy
  11. Champions? - I'll have to research that. Thanks, Nancy
  12. Just one more Cat's eye, please. I saw a sparkle in this one and had to get my magnifier. It looks like a bit of tinsel wrapped around a banana (?) type cat's eye. I know there are metallic but this one shines like silver. Is this in any way common? Nancy
  13. I guess I was referring to some of the marbles being made by artists. I don't know if any of them make a Cat's eye. I'll be happy to accept that they are older and maybe Vitro. Thanks for the input. Nancy
  14. I really would like to know whether these multicolor cats are old or new. Finding 2 old ones like this seems too unusual. Nancy My macro is showing what looks like damage but must be dust and reflections. They measure about 7/8"
  15. Thanks, Steph. I thought they might be Cosmic Rainbow but the colors are rather dull compared to the ones you indicated. Glad to have the ID. Nancy
  16. It's been a long time since I really got serious about identifying my marbles but I need to put some effort into putting them on eBay. I had these mibs in with my Vitros and would like to know if that's where they belong and if so, do they have a "name"? Nancy
  17. I go back to the days when the boys played marbles and the girls jumped rope and played hopscotch. I do remember playing marbles at least once though. When I tried to shoot, my marble flew into the air and hit a boy in the mouth, chipping a tooth. Since I had a terrible crush on this boy, I was devastated and gave up the game. I can't remember my brothers having marbles or collecting them. I think my older brother collected Cabbies' buttons to wear on his cap. That was a long time ago. pollyestr2
  18. Thanks, Steph. I have a paperweight with the same sparkle and I call that Goldstone.
  19. I had the amber marble identified as a Mica some time ago. It's about 15/16" in diameter. Now I'd like to know if the other marble is Goldstone or Lutz or what. It is an opaque brown with many tiny sparkles. There are a few very tiny dimples in surface that look white and a small flat area that might be a pontil??
  20. This morning's email brought me the news that the "Million Dollar Auctions" TV Series based on Morphy Auctions made its debut on Australian TV on October 22nd. October 29th will have a "visit to a $3 million private collection of marbles" -------- Wish I had FOXTEL. Nancy
  21. Hi, again. Just because I enjoy research----- I found a lot of Tiel Pewter Holland on eBay and a couple of brass vases marked Dovo, Holland. "Olive Drab" is one website for military objects. Hope you find your Forum! Nancy
  22. I think I would Google "Identifying marks on-" on whatever the object is. Worthpoint has a site called Marks & Library. I believe there is a free trial but the site looks interesting. Nancy
  23. Steph: Is that all there is to it? Thanks so much. I think I just learned how to link up with an item on eBay. Nancy
  24. I've never had this type of marble before. The white dots that are visible on the marble I have listed are not able to be felt on the surface - there is no glass missing - only a difference in coloration. I listed it to learn what people thought of it and what the value is - if any. Thanks for looking, Galen. I appreciate the input. If the marble doesn't sell, I'll see what I can do on the Forum. Nancy
  25. I put a similar marble on eBay to see if I could find a buyer. I don't know how to do a link but my ID on eBay is ragboneandhank2. Nancy
